Nice looking car, sounds like an interesting setup too.

Only downside to that car is where your going to find a C5 with parts that are all in working order to transfer to the GTM. Chances are if you have a C5 with the parts that CAN be transfered over, your not going to want to part out a perfectly good vette to do so.

Buy a C5 that was rear ended and one that hit a pole and stir them up.
Perhaps chevy will buy the plans and build the Camaro HHR with left over C5 parts.
Now that I would buy.
I agree that building the car could easily run over the estimated $30K.
The main problem is when you are done, it is worth less than you got in it and nobody wants to insure it.
If you had the money for a track only car, it would be awesome.
F5 did a great job, let them design the new camaro, with a mid engine.

I went shopping, for fun, and found a wrecked (claimed "drivable") C5 for $8,500. If it could provide most of the parts, you'd be under $30k for the basics. Still leaves a long way to go IMHO.
F5 said that $35-40k is more realistic, I'd contend that it's the low end.
It's still a cool looking car - if I had the $$$, I'd build one....
