I know it's not the big boys (Viper, Vette...) but the lower class of the speed world challenge. You see these new Mustangs in this class. Always the white with the blue stripes. Why doesn't some Camaro or Firebird guy go out there and kick there ass with a 5 year old car. I can't believe that a f-bod can't run with any mustang. Am I nuts?

I believe the Mustangs are factory-backed cars, and your average Joe with his 4th gen won't be able compete with that money and R&D wise.

Are you going to fund it? That answers your question.

Could an F-Bod be competitive...yes. The average Joe who has run Grand-Am could compete, there just is no support from the factory or sactioning body to help. There have been one or two this season. The problem is I believe the Mustangs are also running the 5.0L cammer motor that is still not available to the public.

BTW: It's Grand-Am Cup and they are all factory backed and I don't think the first independants actually got a car from Multimatic until mid-year this year.

FWIW: There also hasn't been a real Mustang competitive in an professional series since the early years of World Challenge when they basically had they're own class.

Edit: I will build for Daytona next year if you guys want to bring in some money? $10,000 will get you the ride, motor liability, tires, gas and testing. All other licencing and accomadations will be your responsibility

there is also a rule based on age of car and availability, don't remember the specifics.

I know to have a competetive vette in the speed world challenge GT class its going to set you back close to 200K for a turn key car.

I would only guess that in the lower classes to be competative with an Fbody is going to cost roughly half that. Most of it in a reliable motor. Call Lou sometime and see what he has to shell out for a motor.
