I was thinking about grabbing my camera and heading up to try to find Keith and Mike, or, just to hang out. I'm not yet sure if I'll make it (have to get 4 tires mounted and balanced and an alignment on my wifes car tomorrow).

Oh, and welcome aboard!
dropkick_pride
PF Flyer I saw your car parked up there but didnt see you.

I am going back up tomorow (Sunday). Are you going to be in the same lot?

I couldn't make it. Work trips to Mexico made it impractical. I just got back on Thursday afternoon and leave again on Sunday. Ugh. At least it's warmer than here. It's snowing a little here right now.

A friend of mine took some pictures and emailed them to me. I have a couple of Keith and a couple of Eric Vickerman's car too I think. Eric, if you read this is your car a kind of copper color and #0?
trackbird
Mike,

We've got two Mikes, yourself and PF Flyer. I didn't make it today, and I'm not sure if I'll get there tomorrow. If I do, I'll try to get some pictures as well.

Sometimes I really hate having a common name.

didnt make it back up today. I have a couple of pics I took Saturday w/ a disposable camare (forgot my digital). When I get them developed I can email them to anybody thats wants to post them.

I have been to many drag racing events but never felt the urge to enter my cars in them. Some of my friends cars that I have worked on have competed though. However, my first time at MidOhio and I really want to go back and drive my car!!!!

My wallet is not going to like the racing bug!!!!!

Yeah, he came by to say hi. As he probably told you, I had a visit with Mr. Tire Wall.

Mike (PF Flyer) - thanks to you and Brian for the wake up call!

Yeah, Eric's car is the copper colored one. Nice car. Nice dyno run! (I'll let him comment). Nice guy. I hope he's around here.

Are you ok? How's the car?

I'm hoping this was a minor incident.
KeithO
Minor body damage. Car seems OK. I used my "Lucky Charm" for the season.

I am waiting for an in-car video from a guy a few cars back to see what really happened.
PF Flyer
Keith - hope you made it home ok. we ran thru snow an ice from wheeling to almost cumberland. 9 hours to get home sunday.

here's THE LINK to some of the pictures I was able to get
KeithO
9 hours. Geez!

I didn't have much snow-related problems getting home. Just the heavy winds throwing the tow rig around.

You got more pictures than I did. I just took a picture of my car covered in snow yesterday morning. Thanks.

Tom didn't tell me about your incident. He said he'd leave it to you to comment. So, tell me what happened? Did you get punted?

I'm writing this from sunny Mexico. It's about 80 deg. and sunny here and I'm stuck in a piston casting and machining plant.

Other than the marks on my rear bumper and the fact that the car snapped so quickly the opposite direction that I was steering, I don't know what really happened and I am too new to be making any accusations. I don;t want to be controversial, I want to have fun and to know if I made a mistake or not. That's all. I was going into a right-hander and the car snapped very quickly to the left. I was in tight traffic. Hitting the wall with the right-front in a right hand turn takes some serious intervention from Sir Isaac Newton, but not impossible.

I am waiting for the full screen video. It is possible that I made a mistake, though I have never, never spun a car in an autocross (well over 500 runs in 3 years) nor on the track (over 40 hours on 6 tracks)... Ever.

I need to learn something from this, even if it's watch out for so-and-so...

I wish I were in Mexico. In fact, I spent about 6 continous weeks in Monterrey in January a few years back and loved it. Especially, when my wife reported the snow fall amounts.

Hello all, what an emotional weekend for the Sunset Racing group. We started on Wednesday night by getting the car back from the calibrator. Greg Banish from Livernois Motorsport (highly suggested). Tell them I sent ya. Well anyway we were really disappointed when we saw the numbers from the Mustang Dyno (322HP & 322TQ), It will work but the HP graph showed there were some problems, oh well so all we did was change plugs and wires.

Friday, test day...wet...spin tires anywhere on the backstretch

Saturday, practice went well nothing impressive, qualifying was no good either we got caught in traffic, even after given everybody a half lap start. After qualifying we went straight to the portable dyno to make some runs and bam! 414HP and 397TQ well time to jump to AIX the more runs we did the higher the numbers went. The race went well when we started third on the grid, but Dad was sleeping at the start and left a spot for Jason Andrews to pull down in front of him and promptly miss a shift and the whole field went by on the outside. Dad recovered and caught the leaders again only to take it to deep into 14 and get stuck in the mud for a lap and a half.

Sunday, decided we had enough and had some decisions to make and decided not to hurt the car.

It was fun and good to see everyone and we will be at Putnam with a faster, lighter, more powerful car yet!

Mike I would be interested in the pictures you have! I'll email you.

Did anyone get a sheet for the race on Saturday? What lap time did they get us at?

Thanks!

ERV
KeithO
ERVRCG -

The sheet that I have says that your best lap was a 1:41.372. However, this is the sheet that shows car #7 finishing 2, 3, 4 with different drivers and 2 DQ's (which I think were reversed)...

If your car is going to be more powerful and lighter, I think the Mustang guys have someone to fear at Putnum. Lord knows, they don't have to worry about me. Yet.

I would like to "set the record straight" on this post.

I got my Mid Ohio video. I am 75% sure that I know what happened. When I went into the right hander, the rear broke a little loose. I counter-steered just as I transitioned from tarmac to concrete, the increased grip snapped the car to the left and off I went. It also appears that I might have gotten tagged AFTER the car started snapping to the left, not before. Therefore, it was my mistake. At least I think I know what happened now. ...and I learned something.
