Hey guys. Here is the result page link from the Porsche Club Event at South Padre. I would like to point out that some guy that just happens to drive a black WS-6 got the fastest time of the entire day. Nothing like putting a whipping on a buch of high-brows.

How is that possible?
An F-Body faster than a Porsche?
A bird must've flown through the timing lights ...
Sweet ...

Yeah, that's about what they said too.

So here is the question.
Is it truely that these live axle boats of cars can actually run circles around the nimble Porsches on the auto-x track?
Or is it that those of us in these cars work on driving our asses off, and the yuppies in the Porsches don't?
I would like to think it is some of both. Glad to see results like that, good job! Totally awesome!
It all depends on the type of Porsche and the drivers skill. I've felt it both ways.

That's just sweet. It's a beautiful thing.

I have to vote for driver skill - most of us race much more often than the club members get a chance to.
Heck, I took my V6 halfway up the raw time standings at a joint PCA/Vette club event last summer, before any suspension work or Evo school.. Next time I won't be so nice to them
So nice work in the WS6, ledfoot

Brings a tear to my eye....

But why are the only cars listed on your link either porsches or vettes?

Thanks guys. It must be some driver skill or their lack of. We ran a 1.9 mile course and at lest half a dozen of those other cars should have beat me. Of course its not fair to them to compare the Gerneral's fine engineering to their slapped-together Porsches.

Likely driver skill, but it's still fun anyway! At a local PCA autocross a couple years ago, I beat every Porsche on raw time ... in my Lightning!

Congrats Rayman,
It must not have been a very braking intensive course seeing as how you have puny C5 brakes and most Porsche’s have “Porsche” brakes. Of course, as others have implied, driver ability can overcome the handicap of inferior equipment.
Which pads were you using on the front, and do you use the same pads on the street?

Exactly! Now does anyone know how to fix my chronic rear end leak and peg leg Zexel?

Only those like Mitch and Glenn with Porsche brakes should be attempting such an auto-x track.

I love passing Porsches.....This was at my 3rd driver school (1st time at Watkins Glen):
Passing 01 Porsche 911You can't hear me talking, but I told my instructor when I saw the Porsche "I said I want to pass the Porsche"....."Oh you soon will my friend."

Dennis, that is SWEEEEET!!!!!
I see posts from street racers all the time about "the kill" ... they haven't an inkling of the adrenaline rush after owning an expensive German sports car.

Dennis,
Very nice job for having been on the track for the first time.
Have you been doing any mods lately?
Maybe see you at Summit Point in the season. Any plans?
Regards
Steve

I am still on my first setof stock C5 pads. I will run Hawks when these run out. I would highly recommend Bob's C5 bracket to everyone. I have the "2nd generation" aluminum one and it is awesome. Now I just need that hollow 35mm bar that Sam Stano is making and the real fight is on.....formula cars.

Doing it in a 79 Smokey and the Bandit ride would be the next step.

I've thought about putting little Porshe emblems on the front fenters with lines through them like the WWII pilots did for the enemies they shot down, but I thought that might get them a little too riled up.
