This was on the KY F-bodies board, he just lowered the price from $1500 to $1300.
I don't know if that's a good price or not, but figured there might be somebody on here who would want to know about this being available.

FS: 93 M29 ratio m6 full conversion....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a complete 6 speed swap out of a 93Z. This is the special close ratio highly sought after. All components are stock or stock style replacement. I bought complete car for engine and trans, but the wife can't drive a stick so I have to go to an auto for the car I'm building. I am looking to sell all parts together, trans (all gears good, does not pop out of any gears) bellhousing, clutch & flywheel (unknown condition but didn't slip on stock engine), crossmember, hydraulics, pedals, stock shifter. I am looking to get $1500 as it will cost that for a good 700R or 400 and touque converter and the additional item I need to do swap. I am located in South Central, IN and I would be willing to ship at an additional cost. No trades for an auto but would consider partial trades for headers, cam, new lifters, or stroker crank and pistons, long block, non-stock brakes, or any tubular front suspension or crossmember.

Glenn or Mitch or Someone in the know: Are you sure this will bolt upto my 96 LT1 Z28? Seams like a right deal! 93 was the first year of the new body style.? unsure.gif

Yup, yup, and yup.

It fits, it's the first year, and you need one..... tongue.gif

You might have some bargaining power. Part #10236021 is ~1600 new from one of the discount GM dealers.

Part #10236021 is ~1600 is this a conversion kit or just a new trans? unsure.gif

Sorry, to be helpless on the Camaro. Just ask me C5 questions. tongue.gif

Just the trans. But a lot of us here (with T56 cars) already have the rest.

grr... why such deals must come up only when i'm down on cash? damn you dropped valves and cracked pistons!

I was actually looking up the ratios for this trans, and it looks like z06/new gto has something similar, would that be another option for a donor?

It's an LT1 trans Marcin, it won't fit your car. So, you can relax about missing the deal and feel a little better.

oh really? i thought a T56 is a T56, whether it's from a viper or LT1...although the trans in vettes are in the rear right? that would probably make them different. i really don't like being a mechanical moron.

so which trans would work for me?
trackbird
You need one from an LS1 Camaro/Firebird. Viper is different, etc.
sgarnett
Supposedly the GTO tranny will bolt right up to an LS1.

Kevin, it will work just fine for your LT1

Unless I've missed something, our esteemed host has a 2001. Barney, on the other hand, apparently has a 96 LT1 smile.gif

Sean, while our esteemed host is named Kevin, he certainly doesn't hold copyright to that name ...

Man, I thought I renewed that..... Guess I let it lapse and look where it got me. rotf.gif

And, I have a 2002.... whip.gif

96 Original ZR28 from LG

Vortec Supercharged and after cooled LT4 with exploded 4LE. 445 rwhp stock parts don't last long. I have since put true long tube headers with no cats and the 6 speed should free up some hp.

It also has Bear Big Brakes and all of Lou's suspension, which rides rough on the street. I guess solid suspension will so that. :drive:

With that amount of power, I'd look for the taller (2.95) first gear. The trans with the steeper first gear is rated for less torque. You don't need a short gear with that power level. (now that I typed that, I forget which gearbox we are discussing in this thread).

No, but I didn't see any other Kevin participating in the thread smile.gif

I don't get that chance very often ...

So if I buy this set up can I sell or trade the close ratio unit for one set up for 480rwhp? Easily? unsure.gif

And will Mitch and Glen come over and help with the swap? beerchug.gif drink.gif

A little off subject, but wouldn't the '93 T56 M29 be a "wide ratio" with the 2.97 first gear and 1.00 fourth gear, while the '94-'97 MN6 would be considered a "close ratio"? Or, are we comparing the rare "wide ratio" '93 M28 with the 3.36 first gear to the "close ratio" '93 M29 with the 2.97?

The 2.97 is a "close ratio" because it's closer than 3.36.
