Full Version: Be careful with that box cutter

I've been slowly making Christine's bumper cover attachable with just 1/4 turn fasteners and a couple of latches. I was cutting the bumper cover where it attaches to the fenders and decided to cut the last little bits with a box cutter. Box cutter slipped and ended up fully lodged into the fleshy part where the thumb and forefinger meet. Missed the tendons but severed the muscle. My Grand Theft Auto days are over for a week at least, but the upside is that I can't wash dishes or make the bed. I angled for a sponge bath, but got shut down. Apparently being an idiot with a box cutter doesn't buy that much sympathy.

Moral of the story: be careful. I usually am, but it only takes once.

At least my best friend waited until I was stitched up and leaving the emergency room before he stated his mind, "Way to go, dumbfuck." That's what friends are for.

oh yeah sliced right through myself at the base of my hand where the thumb attaches. i did that with a razor when i was a kid. waited all day to get stitches because my dad didnt like blood and mom was at work. it hurt worse to get stuck with a needle for novacain and the stitches than the initial cut.

I work with box cutters all the time and can't believe I have not done something like this already! I do know about that area of the webbing between thumb and forefinger, that is a favorite area for geckos to bite ya (I breed geckos)! blink.gif

Thanks for providing pictures Julie. I'm not going to unstitch my wound and show the gaping hole just to get pictures. And the stitches aren't that interesting to lok at.

And since we're on the subject, I've perused your site before Julie and just this morning wondered how you go about shipping a gecko if someone buys one? That would be an interesting xmas gift for Christine....

Aha! Checked out my site eh? I ship my geckos UPS overnight, works great! For a first timer a Leopard gecko is the way to go. Give me a buzz and I am happy to get Christine all set up!
