I bolded all of Brent's comments. Let me known how everyone would like to do this. I'm thinking in bulk. Let me know what you think so we can get these made asap. (When I said white and black outlines below I meant for everything to be in white or black.)
The big question is do we want one person to collect payment for a week then send payment to Brent for the decals? Once the decals are made this person can mail out the decals to everyone that ordered. The donation would be sent to person collecting money and he/she could send a check to Brent. The money you would be sending would cover: actual decal cost, postage, and a small donation to the board. Is this acceptable to everyone?
It would be easiest if this person would be Chris. Since he's admin/owner.

> Right now we would need at least 91 decals
Damn... that's a big club!
> -a couple people want
> the car silhouette to be black-but most want white.
That's a huge difference... unless they want the outline of the letters to
also be white then there is no difference. But, if it is wanted to have the
car white and the letters black then that doublely (is that a word? LOL!)
complicates the making of the decal and the amount of vinyl used. I
strongly suggest sticking with either a black or white background for the
car and letter outlines. In fact, this must be what you are talking about
because I personally think it would look "funny" to have the car white and
the letter outlines black
> The decals

That decal 3" in height makes it nearly 12" wide. Is that cool?
> It would be easiest for people to purchase the
> decals directly from you.
Oh no... not for me. LOL! I'd have to deal with tons of different emails
from all those different people and then send out all those orders
separately. The shipping would be way way more than if I could just send
out a bulk order.
I can do it separately but it will be a little more expensive because of all
the extra time involved in the emails and the all the extra time it takes to
package that many decals separately vs sending them out in at least mostly a
bulk order. Setting up and sending out 75 packages takes way way more time
than sticking them all in a box and sending them to somebody Plus, the
postage for me goes way up too.
But, like I mentioned, I can do it separately but the price will be higher.
> Once you get your price do you think

> 96 WS6 of TN) who hosts the site? If that's something you could

I could do that but it'll depend on if we decide to do a bulk order like I
suggested or order individually. Also, for the bulk order we don't even
have to do all 91 at once but like 20 or something at a time would still be
way better than me sending them out individually.
Also, I've been involved in group purchases type things before like this and
everyone always seems interested until it comes time to put up the money
then the interest cuts down in half. If it is decided to do these
individually instead of bulk, I don't want to make a bunch of these up (I'll
have to make a number of them at a time to keep the price low) and then have
a bunch left over. Do you think the people you have interested are pretty
serious and the risk of dropout is low?
Just to give you an idea, a single decal like this would be like $20 to $25.
For a bulk order like this the price would be $10 each if you guys handle
the $$$ and then just order it bulk from me. If you want to do it where
each person will contact me then I send them out individually to them, the
price would be $12 each because of all the extra time involved and the much
higher shipping costs for me (these won't fit in a regular envelope).
Let me know what you think! I've tried to give you guys as good as break as
I can but much lower than that and won't be worth it for me to do Each
of these is very time consuming to make because I have to manually "pick"
the vinyl out of all the letters and some letters like the "B" have two
"picks" each. LOL! I then have to overlay the two colors on top of either
the black or white backgrounds and take my time doing it so everything stays
aligned properly. Another example is there is more vinyl in just the
background color (forget about the red and blue) than in a rear CAMARO or
PONTIAC insert. I charge $8 for those and can make them in a few minutes
(big and easy) but it is going to take me way way longer to make these
because of all the picking and fine lines and multi colors.
Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks!

Whew, that's a lot to digest.
First of all. I'm not crazy about being the money guy and mailing out all the decals. I have enough on my hands running the Mid TN F-body Assn. AND having a real job AND a wife, LOL. But if nobody else steps up I am willing to do it. Postage and envelopes are going to add cost as well. I am willing to do a paypal for payments, then send a check & Address list to him if he'll handle shipment...that could be a compromise.
Second, $10 per decal seems high to me. I guess due to the complexity of the decal is greater than your basic 1-color vinyl decal though, as he said. Is there really demand for 90+ though? Clearly we'd have to collect "orders" and money up front so we don't buy more than we have money for. If they are $10 each and we put a $2 website fee on each one that will more than cover the 1-year website costs if we get about 90 orders.

Yes. Multi-colored add's a lot to the cost according to Brent. An all white or all black decal would be fine for me, but who knows. I could handle the money and mailing/shipping. I was thinking the same way you were Chris-payment would have to be upfront. There are over 90 requests in the decal "headcount" thread, but I doubt the actual number ordered will be that high.

You are talking about colors alot.....do you have a copy of the versions you are talking about to post?
I thought we were going red, white, blue....would help to answer you ???'s

All white is fine with me too....Although I'd ideally like silver. I can set up the money collection if you handle shipment Rob...that'll work out well I think.

We're talking about the one that Gary made:
http://www.krichbaum.net/frrax/frrax4.gifChris:
Yeah I think maybe mono-colored to cut costs-I don't think a lot of people want to pay $12+.
I could handle the shipping if you do money collection.

OK...cool, that is the one I though we were going with.....BLACK outline is better for me.....have a WHITE car....

Rob, sounds good. I can set up an instant payment paypal dealy, and maybe even do a simple webpage with the paypal link and a couple of pictures of the decal itself.
I know that in MTFBA we've had major luck just doing silver stickers...seems like 90% of people just want silver or can at least live with it. It usually matches wheels or something at least. I think at $12/per you're going to see a lot of people drop out that would have ordered at $7 per.

I have a black car....
I vote for silver.
How about 2 colors of single color decals. Black, white or silver (2 of the 3)?

Let's just do silver. I'll email Brent and see what he can whip up and post a pic.

I have no emotional attachment to any color, color scheme or anything else. Whatever gets done is fine with me.
Price isn't so important to me either ($5 or $15, doesn't faze me). Tell me who/when to Paypal and I'll do it.
Thanks for all the effort, guys.

I'd rather it be only 2 colors, light and dark. But honestly, I'm with keith. Whatever the final version is, let us know and I'll take 'em.

My input????
I'd rather donate $5 and have it all go to hosting this site as opposed to a $12 sticker, of which $2 went to the site.
JMHO ....

I'd prefer the outlines to be in just about any color but black. The multi color red, white, and blue is cool, or all white, all blue, all silver, all red.....but not black. I don't think black shows up as well on a window, or a black trailer, black toolbox, etc....but that's just my opinion!!

I think $15 to cover decal/shipping/donation would be fine. Most of us have gotten at least that much in information/entertainment value.
How about $15 for the first one and maybe $10 for the second or third to the same person?

I'm sure that option is available. Chris could create a paypal "donate" button. I just think decals are a good idea too, so that we can promote the site.

As for the multi-colored decal:
Brent made one last night...
QUOTE
Just for fun, I made one of the others today and it did take me a LONG time to make just one. Time goes down when making multiples but I spent I'd guess around 20 minutes making the one. I tried it as an experiment to put it together without water and found that I'd have to use water (even more time consuming!) to ensure no bubbles. So, it really doesn't hurt my feelings that you don't want the three color decal. LOL!
I suspect the costs would be even higher for the multi-colored decal than what Brent previously said. I'm sure if you really wanted a multi-colored one he could make it for you.
Brent is working on a silver one right now and will email a pic of it when done.

Here's what it would look like:
He put it in gray since silver is hard to see on the monitor-so excuse the poor color quality.

Because of the understated look of my car, I would prefer the silver on white, or silver only (I still don’t understand how or what part of the decal goes on the vehicle).
But, in the original decal thread, you implied that it would be 6 or 7 inches wide. Does it really need to be 12” wide?
robz71lm7
Mar 5 2004, 05:33 PM
Well to stay in proportion it ended up at 12" wide. I told Brent that everyone wanted in a 3" high decal. If you want we can size it down to 2" tall and it shouldn't be so long. The 3x6 lor 3x7 size I originally gave was when I thought the decal would be text only-my bad.
robz71lm7
Mar 5 2004, 05:48 PM
I've emailed Brent and asked him what sizes he can reasonably do. After I get a reply I'll post a poll in a seperate thread so that we can decide on one size.
In the future maybe someone can do a small static cling. I think Gary knows someone that can.
lateapex
Mar 5 2004, 06:19 PM
I think it would be best to make it the size MOST people want.
If some find it too large, we can just get the smaller static cling type. I hope they can be silver also.
Bald54
Mar 5 2004, 06:22 PM
12" is way too big in my opinion. I just want a small decal to stick on both sides of the glass hatch. Don't want to look too rice. In fact the size shown on the monitor would be jst about right.
robz71lm7
Mar 5 2004, 06:25 PM
Post your size here:
http://mtfba.org/rrforum/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=641They will be in silver since it is neutral and goes with most everything.

OK....not to be a spoiler, but I am not that interested in an ALL silver sticker....
the appeal to me was the cool graphics and "punch" of the colors....seems most of you want UNDERSTATED for your street cars....that is not what I had in mind....
