Mine is in a dedicated race car so it had ZERO break in....still going strong! biggrin.gif

I really didn't break mine in either. I re-used the stock gears when I installed mine. Gears generally need a break in period so if you're replacing them follow the break in proceedure for the gears and you should be fine for the T2R as well.

If you want to be more than safe, install it with standard dino gear oil and change oil after about 500 miles to what ever you normally use. That's all i ever do for gears, so it should be more than sufficient for the diff.

Have you read THESE yet?

I broke mine in with 500 "easy" miles by driving from Phoenix to LA. The shop that installed it overfilled the rear causing the pinion seal to blow out, so I recommend not overfilling the diff... blink.gif I also kept my original gears so I really didn't think I needed a break-in per se.

I haven't had any issues with my T2R, other than not being able to use it on a track.... banghead.gif Oh, and it will eat tires on a routine basis too, so be prepared for that. YMMV however.

I currently have RP in the diff. I noticed a moderate decrease in rolling resistance over the M1 fluid.

Hi,

Granted, you asked re Break In for the diff, but here is the Moser procedure for new gears.

Gears (whether they are Ring & Pinon or in the diff) should be similar as to the treatment they like.

Should be a good way to go. I did it to my 12 bolt and have had no problems w/many track miles since. It is relatively quiet too!

M/E Ring & Pinion Gears Break-In Procedure

A new ring and pinon installed with new bearings will initially generate higher than normal operating temperatures. It is advisable to use whichever of the following break-in procedures that matches your application.

Street

1) With car still on jack stands and rear end filled with proper amount of Non-Synthetic lube, run in forward and reverse for approximately 2 to 3 minutes. **
2) Drive vehicle approximately 10 miles at normal operating speed. Accelerate and decelerate several times conservatively, then let cool for one hour.

Drag Racing

1) With car still on jack stands and rear end filled with proper amount of Non-Synthetic lube, run in forward and reverse for approximately 2 to 3 minutes. **
2) Pull to line.

Oval Track

1) With car still on jack stands and rear end filled with proper amount of Non-Synthetic lube, run in forward and reverse for approximately 2 to 3 minutes. **
2) Run several laps at slow to medium speeds; let cool.
3) Run several hot laps; let cool.

**WARNING: OPERATOR MUST REMAIN IN DRIVER'S SEAT AND ALWAYS MAKE SURE FRONT WHEELS ARE BLOCKED AND JACK STANDS ARE SECURED BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE - NEVER EXCEED 2000 RPM WITH WHEELS OFF GROUND. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS WARNING COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS DAMAGE, PHYSICAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
