Full Version: GP on trackbrackets C5 conversion brackets

Ok, most of our members here know that I build the trackbrackets C5 conversion brackets for 4th gen F-bodies. This kit was originally the Bob Bishop conversion kit, but I bought the rights from Bob (who is no longer affiliated with this product) and am building them to his standards at the same shop that perfected this manufacturing process. I would like to do a batch of either 11 or 22 sets. I'll make some phone calls to get a firm price on this batch (I have to verify the cost of aluminum). We sold the last batch for $279 on the GP and $299 after that (shipped to your door). I'll post a firm price as soon as I get it. But it should be close to the last batch.

If you're interested, please post in this thread. Once we get enough buyers lined up, I'll start collecting money and hope to deliver them within 6 weeks (depending on my shop schedule) from that time. Just in time for spring mod season.

Thanks!

Kevin

EDIT: 01-25-06

I've verified the prices with my shop and have the final totals. I've managed to work out a deal that allows me to reduce the price slightly (but the materials, hardware and processes are not changing, they will be identical to the batches that were done before these).

If we sell 11 sets = $279 per set (Plus shipping)
If we sell 22 sets = $269 per set (Plus shipping)

I get a slight discount for a larger order and I'll pass the savings along.

I know of a local guy that will be interested on them... I'll let him know.

I'll go in to buy/keep 2 sets to help get us to 11 sets. Anyone else?

That leaves 8 or 19.
JimMueller
Hmm, tell and/or point me to the details on how it helps the braking performance. I remember reading about it many moons ago, but not the details...
trackbird
The rotors are larger (bigger heat sinks) and directionally veined for better cooling. There are more choices for brake pads (and they are typically cheaper than the LS1 F-body version of the same pad). The calipers are pressure cast and more durable (less prone to spreading). You can buy replacement rotors from GM for $19.99 each and they have worked very well on track for those who have used them. Also, I believe Steve Brueck measured his stopping distance after installing this kit and it was greatly reduced (I'll see if I can find the post).

So:

More thermal capacity
Stronger/more durable calipers
Increased braking performance
Less expensive pads
Less expensive rotors

What's not to like? biggrin.gif

Try this one:

So what's all included for that price?

This price includes the brackets, the hardware to mount the brackets and the hardware to bolt the Corvette PAB's (but not the PAB's) to the brackets. You'll need pads, rotors, calpiers, PAB's and hoses (with hardware). There is a thread with a parts list on here, I'll find it and post a link to it shortly.

There is more information here:

There is no way to get these brackets to work with LS1 calipers on C5 rotors right? or any safe and practical way from what I undersatnd right?

I have a LT1 car and can get a set of LS1 calipers from my friend for free. I wanted to use C5 rotors with these.

Since they use the C5 PAB's, you should use the C5 caliper. Since the C5 caliper can be run on LS1 F-body PAB's, you might be able to physically get it to fit, but the kit wasn't designed for those calipers and it's never been tested that way (therefore I'll not swear or admit to anymore than that).

You can mail a money order (as soon as I start collecting cash, which may be soon as this rate) or you can paypal the total to me (I'll give you my paypal address as soon as I start collecting payment).

PAB's = Pad Abutment Brackets

PAB's are the "bracket" that you put the pads into and then the caliper bolts onto (the slider pins are sliding in the PAB, it's the "frame").

Am I correct in assuming that these still require modification to the steering knuckle? I believe the BB ones did.

Yes, you do have to modify the spindle with this kit. It is identical to when Bob sold it, I've made no changes (other than anodizing the insides of the bolt holes, which is a good thing) to the kit. When I purchased the rights from Bob, I agreed that they would be built to his rigid standards and I would not try to find ways to skimp on the construction (and I haven't).

There are still some (either one or two sets) available. If you look at the beginning of the thread, I put myself down for 2 sets and I'll probably keep at least one of those, so there is at least a set left, possibly two (if I don't keep any for myself).

Either way, we are going ahead with this batch and things are under way.

Thanks guys!

It's still active. I just started collecting money so most of it is likely in the mail right now (hence the only two names) and two buyers are local to me and have no need to be listed.

We still have at least one set left at this time.

Thanks,

Kevin then please count me in if someone can tell if the Z06 setup will fit inside my 17" 97 SS stock rims.

Oh by the way, all I need after this to make the change over are following parts from Team Chevrolet:

I've got enough for both of you. So if you want a set, it's no problem, just toss it in the mail when you get a chance.

The kit will fit your wheels. One of our members recently completed (all of the other GM parts) his kit for just over $400 (plus the conversion kit from this gp). Here's what he said (about 3 months ago, so it should be pretty current):

BTW, Dal Slabaugh priced everything for me and came up with a cheap total -- $411 inc the Z06 pads and Durastop rotors.

Do you have any pics of the stuff? (That would proabably help to sell the items.)

I'm looking to upgrade the brake system in my 95 Z28. Does this include everything I need?
LT4Firehawk
She's doing pretty good, it was to correct some birth defect issues with the intestinal tract, so we had it planned for a while. At this point everything's done, she just has to heel up and learn how to pass solid waste.

If you've got enough for both of us, then I'll go ahead and take a set. It'll be Friday before I can send you a Paypal though.

You will need the brackets from this GP and the list of parts on the previous page. One of my customers recently ordered all of it from Dal Slabaugh (spelling?) and paid just over $400 for the rest of the kit.

I can e-mail you pics of the brackets if you'd like (just PM me an e-mail address). I still have a set available if you are interested.

And, Evan, I've still got a set for you as well.

Oh OK I get it. You are selling the brackets and the other parts listed finish off the parts needed for conversion. So we are looking at $700+ for the whole shebang. I thought it was $400 for everything. I'll have to rethink this.

Sorry I didn't explain that better. The entire kit will run about $700 (give or take), that's correct.
