Full Version: Any opinions on the Cadillac CTS-V?

I've been looking for a daily driver for a while on and off. I was thinking of a used Porsche for the fun-factor, but as a DD grocery getter, it wont do. After riding in a new Escalade with all the bells and whistles, It started growing on me, but I don't want a SUV, and I need a tad more get-up-and-went. So, that brings me to the 06 CTS-V, anyone have any opinions on them? (I would consider buying a used one in a year or two, not new, so msrp shouldnt be a factor.)

Thanks for the input!

*EDIT*

Here are the main attractions from their website:

* 6.0L LS2 V8 Engine
* Performance styling, 6-disc in-dash CD changer, DVD-based navigation, BoseĀ® 8-speaker system
* Performance-Tuned Suspension, StabiliTrak, 18-inch aluminum wheels and more

local f-body guy has one and it's a fun drive.
very confy/quite and has the hoomph when needed.
It's not a cheap car when new, but since you are looking for a 2 yr old one, if you are able to find one in good shape, i'd say go for it.
only problems I heard from them was the fact of some rear-ends failing on them... and there is a bulletin on them for putting the 2006 diff that is beafier.
Apart from that, there was another bulletin on wheel-hop under hard acceleration and not so nice roads, something that GM has addressed.
great car.
I'd love to have a beater like that.
btw, my friend is actually thinking on selling it since he has already 3 cars and wants to get a Vette... something to consider... PM me if you want his email.

I'd love to take you up on the email offer, buy alas, its not a good time for me to start buying cars.

I figure I could snag a nice clean old-lady driven one around here for 25-30k or so if I wait around long enough, so I'll stick to that plan. For now. LoL. Unless I can sell a couple of things, namely a white 98z and a blue 87z. You want one!?

Thanks for the input.

i love them but i have never driven or even sat in one. random tech did do their testing on the LS6 version as my old shop. with just their cats on a stock car they picked up 15rwhp and the sound was fantastic. id hope the LS2 would be good too

Great car (even the V6 is an order of magnitude above most recent GM offereings).

I wanted one, but ended up getting a Vette instead. Something about the $12k off the Corvette since the C6's were coming. tongue.gif

My only complaint was the cheap plastic interios door panels. Well, the rest of the plastic too I guess. Really cheesy on a $50k car.

BUT, for a 2-3 y/o used one, I could overlook it...

Great performance, terrible looks.... blink.gif

Get the Trailblazer SS if you want to spend that much. My .02c.

I know its been a decade, but still in the market?

I have an 06 I'd sell.

Sits in the back of my shop with a cover and battery tender on it.
Put less than 1000 miles on it in two years.

Prioroties change over time ...
