If you find yourself anywhere near Philly, there's one sitting in my parents' garage.

What's a harness bar?

Just a bar which allows the mounting of a shoulder harness in a car without a roll bar/cage. I know, not ideal but it would only be used for autocross.

LG's, formerly Groves, is the only one I know of for an F-body.

I'm considering just a straight piece of dom tube betwem the b-pillars, but I'm not sure if it would be strong enough on that sheet metal or not.

Not in the near future. sad.gif

I've seen alot of C4 Corvette guys with those things. They claim it also stiffen's up the rear like a strut tower brace. Does it do the same for F-bods?

Doubt it. And this really isn't the section of the board to discuss it. But I will say I have no doubt you could put a pvc tube in there paint it black and a bunch of 'vette owners would claim it were stiffer.

CSC Racing in Newmarket Ontario Canada made mine for a 97 Z28 Hartop. It mounts on the rear seat shoulder points and keeps the belts intact. They also installed clips at the belt points and a mount for the sub belt. I have pics.

All in installed cost CDN$200.

After that a friend had one made for his 2001 WS6 convertible. Mounts on the front shoulder points, installs in 5 minutes.

They may have kept jigs to make more without the car.

I have a red powder coated one from LG Motorsports. I paid something like $225 - $250 for it back a few years ago. It is still in great shape. It is has been in the car the entire time until just a few weeks ago when I pulled it out.

PM me.

Thanks James. PM sent.

I'd have to call my folks to make sure, but considering they never throw anything out, I'm willing to go with "Yes". The bar was in decent condition - some scrapes from general usage (read: throwing crap in the back), and one large scrape through the powder coating that came from the initial shipping from LG to me.

I'm not sure if I know where the hardware to mount it is anymore, though - but scrounging that up shouldn't be hard.
Major_Lee_Slow
See what you can find, and if you could, could you take pics of the damage.

BTW, what color is it?
robz71lm7
I should add that my harness bar you saw in the safety & erognomics section was painted with Rustoleum textured black.
DanKeen
Black, powdercoated. The damage is just scraping of the powdercoating. The bar itself is fully intact, and some black touch up paint would make it look brand new.

I can't seem to find the pics I took a long time ago... sorry.
Major_Lee_Slow
How much money do you want for it?

I don't know wink.gif It's in Philly, and I can't ship it. I suppose somewhere around $50, mostly for my parent's time as they'd have to handle the transaction. Cheap, I know, but I'm not getting any use out of it, so might as well pass it along.
Major_Lee_Slow
Dan, I can arrange for UPS to pick it up if you parents could package it.

Are all the brackets included?

Sorry for the delay - had to get in touch with the folks.

There are no brackets for the harness bar. There are tabs welded into it for clip-in harnesses, and there's a flat mounting plate on either end with two holes that bolts into the stock seatbelt location. All it requires are some bolts / washers / nuts, which I do not believe are with it.

My dad said he'd be happy to measure it / take it to UPS to get it wrapped - he has no idea how to wrap it to their standards before then. As a warning, I tried to ship it before via UPS, but since it was oversized (it's apparently just outside of the length dimension), it was around $100 to go from Philly to Georgia. So that's why it's still sitting with my folks.

Unfortunately, my dad has a business trip this week, so the soonest he'd be able to get to this would be next week some time - is that okay?
robz71lm7
FedEx would probably be a better choice for something oversize like this.

Hey Dan I will take it since MLS bought a new one. You could have your parents just ship to your house and I could come and pick it up. I will PM you.

A question on mounting the harnesss bar. Does the bar mount to the rear seat belt mounts? Seems to me it wouldnt need any hardware or extra brackets.

Re: mounting - yes, it doesn't require any hardware besides two bolts and nuts (iirc, it's been a while since I installed / removed it). Basically, the stock seat belts mount to a single bolt, but the harness bar has two (one before and one after the bar itself, think of a plate and bar like: _|_ where the plate is the horizontal section).

For shipping it out here - if you're willing to pay, say, $50 + whatever it takes for my folks to ship it out here, it's yours wink.gif

Sounds good. I hope we can find something better than $100.00 to ship it. their must be a cheaper way. I am not in a hurry so shipping it the cheapest way would be fine. I hear DHL is fairly cheap. Maybe ask them for a quote. How much does it weigh?

It's not that heavy. The issue was that it was slightly beyond the standard largest UPS box size, so it had to get bumped out to the next level of cost. I'll send my folks an email to see if they can try DHL instead, but I don't remember there being a DHL center near them (while there is a UPS one).

No, I'm sorry, none so far sad.gif I haven't heard back from him about shipping options / etc.

I'll ping him again tomorrow - but if you need a harness bar soon, it'd probably be in your best interest to look elsewhere. Both my dad and I are really busy these days, and we're having trouble connecting.

Sorry sad.gif
