Maybe your old ragjoint was defective?

Or your new tie rod ends aren't the same length as the old ones, like Mark said.
There's not much to to one of these solid disks that eliminate the ragjoint: as long as the 4 holes are drilled at 90 degrees to each other, I don't see much else that can be wrong with them.
See if the shop runs out of thread on the tie rods during the alignment--that's going to be limiting factor. If that's the case and the eliminator is fine, maybe your whole rack is off, or a tie rod is bent, or one of the new tie rod ends is iffy?
