Full Version: How much is a complete LS1 rear with brakes worth?
Just wondering, thinking about buying it from my friend.
$300 give or take...depends on the sellers market. Ive seen them selling for closer to 400 on national forums where the seller was willing to ship...and as low as $200 on regional boards where he would only sell if you picked it up.
Jules - For a 3.42 rear end for the CMC car, you don't need or want brakes on it, just need a built housing with LT1 brake backing plates - to swap, leave the brakes on the car: hang the calipers from the frame, unclip the axle hardline and remove the T bolt from the pumpkin. That and pull the rear LCA/TA bolts and driveshaft straps and the rear end can be swapped quickly, with no need to bleed brakes.

That is how I did my swap. Doesn't take alot of time, either.
i sold mine w/ a T2R + 3.73s for $500USD... the whole rear end.

I'll be dropping my CMC rear end out tonight in prep for T2R & complete rebuild. I was wondering if hardline & brakes could be left together w/o cracking a line while dropping the housing.

I know a guy around here (Maryland) that is offering a 2000 rear for $500. It had 15K on it before he removed it.
I thought that was a little pricey, but it turns out that I couldn't use the axles from it anyway.

Ya, I use some wire (TIG rod, actually) to bend up hangers to support the calipers so the brake flex lines don't get kinked. There are a couple of weld tabs on the axle tubes, and a bolt thru the T fitting into the pumpkin. Be gentle with the hardline.
Geez! $300 for a rear diff? 
I paid $100 for my last one with Motive 4.10s in it ... and he threw in a white Firebird hood.
I traded the 4.10s to the gear swap dude for a set of used 3:42s and the install of my T2R.
It is supply and demand I guess ...
