Is it just me, or do Rally fans act just like Nascar fans? They both go to cheer for the crashes. They both love to watch cars make the same turn over and over again. And neither has more than 5 brain cells (Rally fans because they stand on the outside of curves - Nascar fans because they were born that way)
Hey, I resemble that remark!
I know later you noticed we don't cheer for crashes...
I agree it's unsafe at all to be standing that close watching Rally stages. Although I've never been to a WRC event myself, I'm quite sure you can't stand that close anymore nowadays, though. I
think the stages are cordoned off, so the spectators can only get so close. An you'll hear a whistle from the marshall when a car is approaching (like you can't hear the car huffin' and poppin' from a mile away).
In Rally you don't have to watch the same corner. You can walk around. Like watching a road course event at Watkins Glen or Lime Rock. You bring your chair and set up camp.
And WRC drivers are better than any other drivers!
