... late last night from two days at Watkins Glen Intern'l.

I instructed at a N.A.S.A. - NE driving event. Two great students, two completely different cars, a Mini Cooper S and a C5-Z06. Weather was great, even with a 'lil rain on Tuesday morning. That was gone by lunch time.

Got to see tons of great cars, even a '91 F1 car. A former Damon Hill, Brabham chassis, Judd powered machine. It was sort of a test 'n tune for them, just getting some track time after a restoration. This is just a file photo.

Also got to take a ride with one of the Advanced students in his CTS-V. I HAD NO IDEA !!! OK, well, maybe some idea, but talk about a kick in the butt ride.

We enter the track and got behind two 'vettes, a C5 Z06 and a C6 Z06. At certain parts of the track you coulda thrown a blanket over the three cars. On the longer straights they'd walk us to about 5 car lengths, but then we were right back on them. 135 mph on the back straight, just before the brake zone for the turn in to the 'bus stop'. And this went on for 20+ minutes.

It started as just a ride a long, but the driver asked for a lil help with the turn in to turn 10 and with a lil schooling and some refinement of turn in points at two others places, the onboard computer indicated that our average MPH had increased by 3 MPH. rolleyes.gif

... and my new tow vehicle, the '06 Sierra with the 6.0l, met and exceeded all of my expectations on the trip up and back pulling the 5000 lb car and trailer rig, as well as all the extra parts, tools and rain tires. Even avrg'd 14 MPG.

Not a shabby way to spend a couple days!

Congrats!!!!!

Great job. There's nothing better for an instructor than to see some real performance results.

I don't understand why solo qualified students don't use instructors more often.

Great job

Thanx guys.

Teaching does have its rewards, albiet small at times, and it makes it all worth it.

I put some video in the 'Video Forum' from the event.

I'll have to check out the video when I get home. Sounds like a fun trip! WGI is one of my favorites....although my recent trip to VIR last weekend.....may have bumped WGI down one notch on the list! That was a lot of fun....should have pictures soon!

Who was at VIR, and what circuit config did you run?

VIR is a great place, country club atmosphere, fast (full course), lotsa runoff, nice facilities. I enjoy it every time I get to go. Feb is 3 days on the Full course, and July is 2 days on the North course.
