Just like it says, I'm looking for a the Ls1 rear brakes to put on my thirdgen. I'm interested in everything from the backing plates and parking brake to the abutments, calipers, hardware and rotors if they are in decent shape. Hopefully someone did an upgrade and has these parts laying around. I'm most interested in a complete set-up, but I will consider partial as well.

I have a 3rd gen with a LS1 4th gen axle. I could be wrong, but I doubt the brakes would mount properly to any of the various 3rd gen axles. The extra space for the park brake drum and the ABS sensor ring results in about 1.5 inches of extra width on each side. It might work, but I've never heard of anyone doing it. Previously, when I was running a 3rd gen 1LE 9-bolt, it was possible to mount the similar PBR alum. calipers, or any of the lesser factory brakes if the correct mounting plates were used. This is also true for the 3rd gen 10-bolt axles. You may want to switch to a 4th gen axle complete with brakes as I have done. The only issue is that it will need wheels with 4th gen F-body or Y-body C4 or later wheels. Another option is to buy the 1LE PBR rears and mounting plates (the plates are hard to find, but I have a set that are surplus). These brakes are almost identical in function to the 4th gen factory brakes which are PBR as well. Hope this helps.

I've seen it done, but I don't know what's involved. The LS1 brakes are supposed to bolt to the 3rd gens and I've seen cars wearing them. I don't have anymore info than that though.

I'm building the axle pretty much from scratch.

What's all that graph paper and measuring instruments doing there? You aren't trying to measure anything precisely, are you? That's not how it's done! You just put the part up to the mating surface, and hit it with either a hammer or grinder. If those two don't work, it wasn't meant to be!

jfwy - good luck with that. I've got LS1 fronts I could sell you, but my rears are staying. Actually, I take it back - I've got the parking brake shoe and assembly if you can't find a taker. Let me know soon - they're in my trash and trash day is Thursday.

I kinda eyeballed it for a few minutes only, but it looked like a custom bracket and the correct rotors
would do the trick..no parking brake option, but this ain't no street car!

Are you talking about the whole park brake backing plate? NOO! Don't throw that away! Send them to me! How much do you need for your time and shipping? How come you don't need these anymore? Did you take them off to save weight?

Not the backing plate. I've still got ABS, and the sensor mounts to it so I need to keep that. I'd love to ditch it, but I didn't deel like fabbing up a bracket to hold it the other day. One day, maybe.

Specifically, I've got the parking brake shoes, the clip that holds the top of the shoe to the backing plate, and the spreader at the bottom. Oh, and the arm that sticks through the plate and attaches to the cable.

As for "time and shipping" just see how much it is to ship from 70123 to wherever you are. Nothing more - in fact, my wife may pay you to take them out of our garage!

What class do you race in that doesn't require a functional park break? I was looking at SSCA SM and it requires a parking brake. I was considering not using one until I saw that. But I'm not so sure that I want to run SM anymore.

Sorry - I cut the cables to remove them. They are a PITA to get out.

I'm going to be running a local race series held at No Problem Raceway. There are no modification rules - your qualifying time determines your run group.

My car actually doesn't fit into any SCCA or NASA classes. I've either done too much or not enough to fit anywhere. I guess I'm closest to CMC2, but I've got a tad too much power. If you're talking autox classes, I run CP.
