What intercomm did you use when your son was driving and you were just hangin' on, uh, navigating? Anybody else have any recommendations?

Countdown is on for BBORR!

Guy,

We used the NADY motorcycle intercom the first 2 years like lots of others. Cheap, battery operated and they work fine. Last year we changed to a real intercom the Terratrip Terraphone because I could patch it in to the video camera, it had jacks to plug the helmets in AND I didn't have to remember to change batteries.

This nice weather is really getting me going for Big Bend!

I'll second the basic Nady. Used it for 3+ years rallying and the thing took a beating but worked like a champ. I damaged one of the connectors and replaced it, but other than that it was great. We both used full face helmets and they just slipped inside them. Batteries lasted a long time but we carried spares too.

The Chatterbox system is something to check into as well.

Hey Guy,

I have both the Nady and the Chatterbox. Nady runs about $125 and replacement headsets are $25. You can get them at Harley dealerships. Chatterbox is about the same price, but seems more durable and is rechargeable. We had to get mine over the internet. I have two extra Nadys, so if you want to borrow one for BB, let me know. I don't know if you'll be at TWS beforehand, but worst case I can mail it to you.

Thanks all.

And thanks for the offer Misty. Let me do some looking and then I will let you know. And now for something completely different....at the last TWS, the exhaust leak was a fitting blowing out of a header primary tube, not a crack. The little black cloud will not go away!!!!! banghead.gif

Cheers, Guy

I used the NADY in 4 events and it worked fine until the boom tube was on my car. Then it didnt work for crap, it would wash out. The stock corvette I used to nav in though it was great.

Jeff and I use the PCI race radios intercom system. Have to have molded ear pieces but its pretty much a requirement to seal out noise in that car.

The Nady MC intercom worked in my car, till I pulled the carpet, when it got too noisy to hear anything.

Practice hand signals BEFORE reaching 180mph.
