The claim was settled today. And it wasn't very pretty.

The HANS device was excluded. It was deemed a specific, non-household device, used for a single and very specific purpose and required the car for it's use. Therefore it was excluded as a "household" item. nutkick.gif I don't agree with that assessment at all, but the adjuster was adamant.

We debated over the driving suit and helmet as they wanted to replace my Sparco with Bubba's fire suit and prom dress. They also wanted to replace my Impact helmet with air ports with a Nitro helmet. unsure.gif

In the end, I got the replacement cost of a decent suit and a my helmet.

Everything else in the bags were covered without question.

So, the settlement was about $1500 short of what was claimed.

Check should be here Tuesday .... time to go shopping!

That rather sucks that they tried to shaft you on some and did shaft you on the rest.

I'd call him up and tell him that Hans devices are a fashion statement and that everyone is wearing them to the mall these days. Now pay up. brick.gif

Heck, I carried my ever-growing daughter up a long grassy hill on my neck/shoulders last night. I'm used to the weight, but now she's learning how to work a swing to keep it going, and she tried to use the same technique to make me go faster. My neck and upper back are kind of stiff and sore today

So, where can I get one of those nifty HANS child-carrying systems? Every household with a small child should have one wink.gif

My Son has been doing that. But he tends to push down on your head. Compress the spine just a bit to make it annoying. But funny thing I sit in my car with helmet on and add some G's for 20 min and come out with a smile and no i'll effect. Isnt parenthood great!!!!!

You should have told the adjuster to meet you at a brick wall and you'll both crash into it at say 100+ .(hypothetically) ..... you in the HANS device and a good helmet, him in his cheap ass helmet and no HANS device....

I had to threaten an adjuster about a ride in the desert when they were trying to tell me the water pump was leaking "before the accident" (the VERY LARGE puddle of antifreeze in the middle of the intersection after I was hit should have been a clue), I told him if the vehicle overheats on our desert ride he better start running.... It worked they covered it, BUT normally I don't like being the sort of person to resort to "threats", he was just a 1st class asshole....

Disclaimer: I have close relatives that work in the insurance business they aren't all bad.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SHOPPING smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
