Just picked up a new ride on Wednesday. 2000 Corvette FRC! Torch Red, 6 speed, 38k miles and she is bone stock right down to the skip shift! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Just a cell phone pic for now. Hope to get some nice shots soon, but i've been too busy driving!

Nice car! FRC's are pretty rare. Friend of mine had that exact car....and then he put it into a guard rail on I35. I would say it's a step in the right direction, but 00TransRam would say an f-body is faster. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

That's the Vette that I'd get (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

Or a C5 Zo6 if it wasn't too much more.

Sometimes I think I might have been better off getting one of those ~5 years ago instead of polishing the turd I have.

Thanks! I love this car.

There's plenty of places to go in AK. Just wish there were more places to go to get track time! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

My lovely wife tells me the car has to stay stock for at least two years. haha.

Awesome! If I were in the market for a Vette, a FRC is what I'd be looking for. So what are they going for now? Sub-twenties I hope.

You can sit in it in the garage during the cold dark months and make 'vrroom, vrrooom' sounds. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) ;-)

"Honest, honey, an exhaust manifold broke, and long tubes were cheaper. I _had_ to install the cat-back, because the long tubes wouldn't correctly connect to the rest of the exhaust."

And so on.....

Yup. Got this one for $18,500. These type of cars usually command a premium in AK, so i'd be willing to bet you can find similar 'vettes for cheaper in the rest of the world. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

The pics don't do it justice....it is VERY CLEAN! I looked for a while, and cars that looked perfect in the photos were crap in person...this car was advertised with a crappy cell phone pic and I was worried I was wasting my time going to see it....as the guy said he had no camera to take better pictures....but it was as advertised and is sweet inside and out. I got a SWEET deal on it as the guy was desperate to sell it and I was at the right place at the right time.....

I LOVE IT!

I'm really loving my C5. I'm like a little kid... i sit here at work just waiting for lunch to go for a drive, then i get back and i'm anxious to leave at night to go drive!

I am the same....I drive it almost every day.....and still LOOK for opportunities to drive it.

I did not want a stick in it. I have the race car, so I don't need to track it, and here in the bay area traffic can be BRUTAL, so I wanted something that I could cruise in and still sit in traffic and not worry about shifting. Plus, a plus in helping me convince the wife to buy it, I let her drive it a few times a month to work, and when she wants......in THAT traffic she needs a auto. The paddle shifters are neat, you can really drive it hard and keep it in any gear like a stick...I hear it is even better if you get it programmed. I used it a lot at first, now I just use "S" for sport most of the time and let the tranny shift.

It gets GREAT gas mileage.....over 19 MPG when I am sane....and that is 90% in town. On the highway I have seen over 32 MPG!.

By the way....we just got back from a 10 day cruise to Alaska! Ketchikan, Haines, Juneau and Victoria.....it was 92 degrees in Haines! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) And 80+ everywhere else! YIKES. Not much snow on them mountains either......Al Gore....where are you.... That's awesome. My Camaro was an auto and i love manuals, so i was always conflicted driving that car even though i loved it. haha. So, it was no accident that i bought a manual Corvette. Someday i will have a dedicated track car, but that day is not today. For now, i'm content with autocross and the occasional closed course high speed run.

Mine has also been getting great mileage. I've seen it hover in the 34 range at times, usually 30-32 highway. For some reason, i've been driving slower with this vette. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You were in the south east! They cheat, it stays a lot warmer there. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) Although, it has been a little warm this summer, even in Anchorage. After the last couple crappy summers we had, i'm ok with it! It's pretty normal for the interior Alaska areas to see 80s.
