I pulled the trigger on a Summit White 07 Trailblazer SS w/50k miles for the wifey last week. It's got "certified preowned" status which gives me the 100k mile powertrain warranty. It seems to be well taken care of. Body and paint are perfect (not a single scratch or stone chip), interior is perfect, wheels are an 8 out of 10 with some chips in the clearcoat.
My question is...Is there anything special I need to know about the LS2? It won't be raced or abused, so I figure regular oil changes with good syn oil should suffice. Are there any common problems that I should be on the lookout for. Any extra special attention that the SS model requires?
I searched one of the TBSS forums, but didn't find the answers I was looking for. I figure since this is a site full of LTx/LSx gearheads, someone else in here probably has one, or knows alot about them.

One of our fellow autocrossers uses one of those as his daily driver and to tow his Boxster S autocrossser and his son's TDI Jetta Cup car. I don't remember him indicating any special care necessary. He tows with an open trailer that he parks a golfcart at the front cross-wise, and the Porsche tail-first to get the weight between the trailer wheels and hitch.

I'm sure others will chime in, but if you get no hits, LMK, and I'll ask him if there's anything special he does.

I'm familiar with the drivetrain. I can tell you that it is rock solid from the slip yoke back.

2wd or Awd?

AWD. Apparently it has a 4L70E (found in the Tahoe), 4.10 gears, and self leveling airbag suspension in the rear. I've read some complaints of dead trannys and blown motors, but a lot of the owners on forums are modding and racing them.
It is amazingly fast for as big as it is. I honestly think my (stock) LT1 6-speed Camaro would have a hard time keeping up with it in a straight line. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sadbananax.gif)

I did an impromptu drag race with one of those (well i'm not positive about the year or exact model) but my 01 WS6 (no major mods), loaded down with 220+ lbs of autocross tires etc in it, just nudged ahead (after stoplight). Yeah very fast.

My grand parents bought one and you're right, that thing is definitely a sleeper. I only got to drive it once because they got freaked out about squealing tires and thought I was going to break it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yeah, the trans is the weak link in the driveline, you won't break anything rearward of that.

It seams that 14.xx in the quarter are the times that I remember.

I used to have one. They're a lot more fun to drive if you get the torque management lessened/removed, but then you get into the whole transmission strength issue. I bought hptuners and turned down the torque management and never had a problem, but I only put 22,000 miles on it so I don't know what kind of long term effects that would have. The only problem I ever had (and a lot of people seemed to have) was the rear end groaning/hopping. There is a TSB out there on it, the dealership put in a new limited slip unit in mine at about 15,000 miles under warranty and that fixed it for awhile, but it was starting to do the same thing again when I got rid of it.

Clutch pack LSD, I think they ended up taking the preload springs out, or maybe that was another program, I can't remember.

Ours is one of the early '06's (first one the dealer got), totally stock and we have 47,000 miles service free miles on it. A lot of those miles were towing either the Camaro or Solstice on an open trailer. I autocrossed it at a PCA event a couple of weeks ago and it surprised me and most of the people there with its composure.

We had the floppy front bumper issue which I fixed myself and we do have the rocker and rear door rash that's covered under a TSB but I've never bothered with it.

We bought it for me and my wife hijacked it.

It's very vulnerable. The TSB is for a repaint if necessary and applying the 3M film.

The floppy bumper was also referred to as shaky fog lights. The TSB added braces at the bottom of the bumper. That one may have been picked up at the factory later in production. I made up my own and bolted it on. Took less time than 2 trips to the dealer would have. There's plenty of information on both at TrailblazerSS.com.
