My stepdaughter's 2000 Jeep GC needs front brakes; the pedal shudders when the brakes are applied, which to me means warped rotors. She took it to a local shop who confirmed the warped rotors, and told her that in addition to replacing the rotors and pads, that the calipers also needed to be replaced. I find that odd (at the very least). Has anyone else done a brake job on one of these vehicles?

yep, and they are selling work because of the liability issues. It's easy enough to do in the driveway....... unless the caliper is hanging up, it doesn't need changed.....

That's what I thought. Thanks! My 99 F250 Powerstroke has had a rear caliper hang up and then a front caliper hang up. It's very noticeable. I replaced a pair at a time. Other than that, replace the rotors with rotors made in the US. Very important. I replaced all 4 of my F250's rotors with cheap, chinese made rotors and they warped within months. Not it's so bad (over a year later), that I can hardly stand it. US rotors will last much longer. It's worth the extra money. Steve |
