Lets face it if you want a nice set of track wheels it costs.

I am looking at three vendors:

HRE
CCW
Kodiak

The CCW and Kodiak are about 1800 per set and the HRE is about 1100 per set. I do not have an opinion which of them is best, and certainly there are many other wheel vendors out there. The three vendors are there because they all seem like reasonable choices. Lastly, 1900 per set is about as much as I can justify for a set of wheels.

Bottom line - what is your favorite wheel vendor?

Thanks

I don't think this is the way you are thinking, but...

A long time ago, I concluded that the most important thing was to get on the track. Then I would make improvements to the car as finances allowed. I will eventually get serious wheels but it is a long way off. I spent just under $675 for a set of ZR1 Replicas and then applied any other monies to other mods...

Guessing your number is from the [shortbus] GP. At the moment I am ok with knowing that I did not buy a set of them.

Another 500 is enough to get a set of wheels [HRE] in the exact size I want. Sounds like a lot of cash I suppose.

I agree time on the track is the goal. I do not feel like I am breaking my budget with a wheel/tire purchase, but I am hoping to find a set of wheels that perform well and make me happy when I look at them.

Thanks for the response, and I am not in a rush to make a purchase.

How do you get a set of HRE's for $1100?? What size are you looking at? HRE's are usually more like $1100 each! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)

No, Keith did not buy his wheels in the "Shortbus GP". He bought them a while before that. And, yes, HRE's are usually priced individually, not as a set.

:silly grin:

Um, yep. I guess I was being a bit too optimistic when looking at their webpage.

Glad you pointed that out. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You could do what I did and buy a set of used CCW wheels; I'm very happy with mine and it saved $1000 to get them used.
