So, I'm drinking and looking for ideas (long week).. and photoshop hit my mind...
I'd like to put a car number on my car.. I'm tired of using shoe polish... What does everyone do for numbers... rather, I'm looking at size, shape, placement... and color. I don't really like that much red on my car... suggestions are welcome. This is what I came up with... http://www.2000transam.com/gallery2/main.p...2_itemId=191496 Realize that they are really bad PS images.. it's mostly just for font ideas and placement. I'm looking at running a couple NASA HPDE's this year.. not sure if that plays a roll in size, etc, or if it even matters. comments + suggestions? Chris ... is this the same car you've had ever since your "glory days"?
Is that you daughter standing in the back of your trailer? My how time flies, eh? For HPDE, 12 - 14" numbers would be just fine. Maybe black numbers on a silver oval and a nice dark silver border. |

Yep.. thats her.. 5 1/2... and I have another one now.. she's 6 months old. Same car! Thanks for the suggestion.. I'll have to try and photoshop it.. give me a general idea.. What do you have on the side of your car? anything? This post has been edited by CJ-TA: Jan 13 2007, 05:48 AM |

I like the casual font, narrower stroke, and canted a little more to the right. Depending on the color red you choose, it may not be all that visible. Silver really is a dark color to the human eye. Black will provide some contrast, but white would be better. Or, a white square, oval, or rectangluar panel you can put the numbers on would be the best, and allow more freedom of color choice.
Just my thoughts. |

A quick and dirty attempt ...
(IMG:http://webpages.charter.net/mitchntx/Chris1.jpg) or this (IMG:http://webpages.charter.net/mitchntx/Chris2.jpg) Pulls a little of the red from the wheel center caps Personally, I prefer to have the top of the alpha numeric character slanted towards the rear. The slant flows better with the overall shape of the car. |

The red in the center caps is too subtle to me, but it may look different in person. |

Wow! awesome. I really like the red shadow effect.
Whats the idea.. the 99's color is the same color as the ring around the white? (3 total colors?) I should say that the image was taken in Feb 01.. Thats what sucks about being the photographer at your own events (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) The 'Trans Am' is now red reflective, as well as the front bird. Wheels are gunmetal grey. 996 brakes are red. What font is that? http://www.2000transam.com/gallery2/main.p...ageViewsIndex=1 It's probably the most recent picture of my car... it now has a Blane spoiler on it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by CJ-TA: Jan 13 2007, 08:04 PM |

What font is that? Arial .... keeping it simple. 4 colors ... the ring is black to make everything pop. background is a light shade of gray, 1/2 way between white and the silver paint on the car. the numbers are a deep charcoal ... not quite black. I little darker than the interior. And then the red shadow Getting that big decal over the accent line and worse yet, the door guard, is gonna be a bitch! You could always make it small enough to go on a magnetic sign and put it on the rear quarter panel somewhere. I would tape down the leading edges, though. |
