That sucks man. I feel for ya.

People will steal anything. For example, I had a '90 buick lesabre with 285k miles on it. I didn't have comp on it "who would steal this thing"... Someone did!

Crap Joe, I'm sorry to hear that (especially after seeing it just the other week).

I'll keep my eyes and ears open. Maybe someone will be dumb enough to bring it to an OMR event.

I'll keep an eye out for it... but where exactly are you located? Where was it stolen from? That way, people in that area can keep an extra good lookout for it or... go-fast parts on sale.

That's what I though about our Pontiac Transport Minivan (daily driver) then 3 weeks ago a guy stole it to go to a mall and steal a better car. The Mall has been having problems with stolen vehicles so the police where having a stake out that day. The guy that stole the van park it and proceeded to try to break into another vehicle. Police showed up, so the crook gets back in the van and proceeds to drive it into a building almost killing himself. No other persons where harm fortunately. Of course the Van was totaled. It turns out that the vehicle he broke into was one of the officers off duty vehicle. The kid is 19 and on his way to jail. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)

But now I'm stuck driving the TA paying 4.00/gal at the pump. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

Good Luck with yours Joe. That is a nice looking car.

Car thieves should be shot. Repeatedly. I had my old car stolen once and broken into a 2nd time. It was a beater so I didn't care too much about it... it just pissed me off that I had to replace the same window twice. I'd be ultra pissed if someone stole my WS6. In fact, I really hope the cops would catch the guy before I did... Have gun, will travel... in a rental car if necessary (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

RECOVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The perps who stole my car didnt know that i had a "near death" clutch thanx to the second hand autocross tires from the two, loving, kind and considerate friends. I nearly destroyed it, or as close as you can get to it, at the last autocross event i drove on it. The clutch is fried. they got only two streets away(one that i, or anyone i know ever travels on). They pulled over, exhaust wailing, in front of an elderly mans house, rolled down the windows(cuz it was gonna thunderstorm  ) and walked away from it.

In the end i only lost ALL my CD's(i need to buy an iPod). they left my checkbook, collectors Latrell Spreewell Knicks jersey, helmet, racing shoes, my winning lottery ticket(i let you know how that turns out), and my suntan lotion(THANX CRAIG WILCOX). Oh yeah, my seats and carpet are all wet, also, my key cylinder is all loose. I will post more when when after i get a new clutch in it and get it down to GM for a new cylider.

God bless all and thanx to good Karma. We truley live in a beautiful world!!!!!

I literally have not eaten anything in the last two days. Im hungry and im celebrating as i type!!!!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif)

Grats on the speedy recovery (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Just be happy that, in the end, noone was hurt.

I had a fun experience just after buying my SS 2 summers ago. Some guys saw me driving on the highway and followed me to work. As I was parking the car one of them ran across the parking lot with a shotgun since, obviously, he needed my car far more than I. Skipping some of the boring details, I got out of the car and backed away towards the building that I work at. After he was in the car, I turned around and dialed 911. I had just finished dialing when I heard the engine rev twice and die... I looked over and the idiot was booking it across the parking lot on foot. He got in a friend's car and tore off. My car is a stick, so I had taken it out of gear and set the e-brake when I got out. Apparently he didn't know the first thing about driving a stick because when I got back to the car, the e-brake was still set...rofl.

I asked my insurance agent if having a manual transmission was considered a theft deterrent device, but he didn't want to give me the reduction in my insurance costs (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Oh! I got a letter from the district attorney on Tuesday. The guy plead guilty to aggravated assault and is going to spend the next 5+ years thinking about it in a small concrete cell, hopefully with a very large man that insists on being called "Muffin".

In the end, its just a car and thats what insurance is for. Be happy that you got it back and that noone was hurt (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That's awesome!!!!!

I've never considered a dead clutch to be a good thing, but I guess that's now changed.

Question, how did they get around the VATS? Or, did they have a key (if so, why was the lock cylinder loose?)?

Otherwise, I'd think they were pulling vin numbers and having keys made.

That is great news!

I just bought my '93 this weekend. I was already paranoid about someone stealing it since I live near the Tennessee state capital for chop shops. Anybody have a good home-brew theft deterrent system for these cars? I'm thinking about adding a hidden switch for the fuel pump or ignition.

Excellent news!!! For visual deterrent I like the Club! Not foolproof but a strong visual that this car will take an extra minute or two and perhaps the thief will move on to easier prey.
