On of my friends had a very nice 1999 Cherokee....until some stole it and torched it. Since the insurance company wasn't going to pay storage anymore, we had to go get it. We drug another jeep up in case we needed to drag it onto the trailer, but we wound up getting help from a tow truck instead. Anyway, here's the photos....

And, we got 10.2 mpg while towing Cherokees all over Ohio. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif)

The best part was when we drug the trailer through the McDonalds drive through on the way back. As we pulled up to the window, the kid working said "I'm not sure you guys know this, but our lobby is open until 11:00 PM" (this was at 10:30). I asked him, "Doesn't everone drag burned out Cherokees through your drive through?". He smiled and said "not too many, no"....

Well, ok then. I guess we should have gone inside..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

Okay, I guess I missed the story here. Exactly WHY are you expending so much energy on a burned out Cherokee? I guess you could use the drivetrain in an older Jeep, but it looks like that is about it. Not sure I'd want a carbecued Jeep smelling up my garage/driveway.

His insurance quit paying storage and the police in this small town are claiming he was out in it (it was stolen, it wasn't him), ran from them (fleeing), ran a stop sign and then burned it. So, they are charging him with two traffic violations and arson. Once the court case gets settled, the insurance company will have to total it and write a check. We need the carcass for them to haul off when it's over. So, we drug it down to his fathers farm and parked it next to the hay wagons to wait this thing out.

I think the Problem is that it was burned. Most vehicles that are reported stolen then found burned most of the time are from someone trying to collect insurance money. Im not saying this is the case. The insurance company and the police both know this and really investigate these with a fine tooth comb. In our city the police have a department just for this. They ran a story in one of our local paper and If I remember correctly the % of fraud in these case is 95% Aprox. Kevin I hope he makes out Okay.
