Announcing the Blaine Fabrication reinforced sway bar bracket:

Sometimes they just break. It's not a dangerous situation though. The car will just feel sloppy in the front. Some folks can't even tell when it breaks. It doesn't hurt to look them over real good for cracks especially on a higher mileage car.
