Hey Sean,
One thing that is a MUST with the brackets is to be sure that the upper PHR brace bolt is tight. Mine loosened up on the '96 and when I started getting unexpected tire rub with the 315's I investigated. The once the upper bolt was tight, the rub went away again. I'm certain that the bracket would have failed with the amount of movement I was getting. This is not to say that Christine's failure was caused by something similar (especially since Jason had been checking that bolt), just something to check frequently. I looked at Christine's bracket earlier this year, due to an earlier failure. It appeared to me that the initial weld wasn't all that it should have been. I've seen two other brackets fail due to poor welds and once the first failure occurs, you really have to brace the area to ensure that the failure doesn't re-occur. The timing was a total bummer for Christine (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Jason S. This post has been edited by Unbalanced Engineering: Sep 18 2007, 03:04 PM |
