It took me maybe 90 min to get the motor down and most of that was spent screwing around with pressure washing the bottom of the motor & car off. I also drained the power steering, oil and radiator before starting. There was about a gallon of water in the bottom of the crank case. |

Nice lift! Would be nice to have now while I'm installing my headers...(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) PS - nice pic in latest GRM too! Is that an Iron Maiden mirror on the ceiling? Beef up those hood pin supports will ya. Nice half page pic (Feb.'08, page 25) of the yeller car in GRM! jb Yep, its a maiden poster on the ceiling: (IMG:http://gallery.noid.org/albums/wallart/DPP_1421.sized.jpg) I haven't gotten the latest GRM yet! Which picture is it?? How many racecars do you own? I'm counting 3. Just two, the yellow CMC car and the red one in the picture above. I've got a track bike, an 03 ZX6R but that doesn't count as I don't' race it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ... yet. I have no idea what this thread is about because I can't get past the picture of the garage. Wow that is nice. Thanks! I've had fun with the constrution in the last 7 - 8 months but now its time to get serious with some wrenching! What's the purpose of the covers on the front shocks? What's the purpose of the covers on the front shocks? I'm gonna guess it was to make sure water did not get past the top seals of the shocks when he was pressure washing the whole deal?? Bingo! It was basically a way to protect the shock shafts from crap when the car was raced. Yep, that's the easy way to change the plugs on one of those cars. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) With all the weight you pulled out of the front of that thing, I'd have been afraid of rolling the car off the lift backwards as the last bolt dropped out. Nice. Double-flaring, or bubble-flaring as a lot of the newer cars use, is not that difficult, as long as you have the right tools. I was a bit concerned as well but I watched the car pretty carefully as I lifted it up off the motor & trans and it stayed rock solid. What's the purpose of the covers on the front shocks? To keep debris off them. I can't remeber if they are inverted or not. No, they are right side up. The rears were inverted. |
