I have put this on hold for a couple of years but the time is now right resurrect the project and get this bit of American racing history back together as a proper car the way it was built. Here is a link to my Facebook album please feel free to comment or advise. I would like to get this finished by next spring and see if I can revive that invite I had to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, may even try to get one of the original pilots from the 70's behind the wheel. I will adventually need some NASCAR style Goodyear Slicks but a long way off from that just yet.
I don't intend to race the car and in fact as you can see I have stripped off the fibreglass rear quarters and big rear spoiler and have a doner 2nd gen which I am going to remove the rear end from and stitch it to the original roof so I will be actually be adding weight to the car. I will aslo run it as they did with steel bonnet and boot and glass windshields back and front which will up the weight. I will build a replica 400 bhp engine for her, I already have the block, heads, full original Weaver drysump equipment including all lines and Mooneyes tank of the orginal style and pan. It has the Ford 9inch axle (naughty GM) Lincon uprights and Ford steering bix (tut, tut) and I have 97% of all the parts I need to complete including no less than 6 front wings I came across and a front spoiler from the original mould in the States. I will use it for a few trackdays and displays etc. here is the link you may need a Facebook account to peruse it. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2...1629&type=1 |

Ha ha, well on the good side this car did compete in a championship over here called Thundersaloons years ago a series much missed by many and was screwed up by the powers. Anyhow last month they staged a revival and it went down an absolute storm but only cars that competed in will be allowed (thats what they are saying this far0 so thim thing will be elligible. On the downside they now require all tanks in the cockpit to be covered which rather spoils the look as I want the Mooneyes tank on display and all the diff and axle coolers with their Jabesco Water Puppy Pumps. Also it has fixed doors in good old NASCAR fashion and they might not allow that and being a big old lump I may struggle gettin in the thing anyhow (on a diet llol!).

Put the mooneyes decals on the cover. Get the driver's office in shape and practice a couple of bail-outs. It's amazing how fast one can pop out of one of those things when the sole purpose is to just get out. |

Yeah you are probably right, fear produced adrenelin is a very powerful drug! I have even had to cover the Accusumps in my cars which I think is just daft personally.
