One of the ventricular assist devices that come to the hospital where my wife works comes in a very nice, large, lockable attache' case. The VAD is all disposable, and goes to biohazard recycling when it's done. The case is just thrown out. We got one just for grins. I thought it would make a nice case to carry our pistols to the gun range. It will fit all of them, plus some gear, with room for a couple of additions in the future.
The stuff comes with that high-density rubbery styrofoam kind of stuff that's frequently used for packaging. it would be nice to use it, but it's pre-cut for the VAD. I can mod it, but there are still some voids and some cutouts don't match the guns well. I figured I'd ask this group if anyone knew where to get that kind of stuff. I'd rather not use foam rubber, as it will deteriorate with time, and becomes a crumbly mess. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

Something like this would work, dunno about longevity:
mcmaster.com 85735K83 (Same as 8643K528) Super-Cushioning Polyurethane Foam 1" Thick, 24" X 72", Charcoal, Firmness Rating 4 In stock at $55.19 Each stack layers of it, cutting out the top layers for the gun outlines. Glue the layers together with 3M weatherstripping adhesive. |
