Bernie's HVRA (Historic V8 Racing Association) is running its 2nd race of the sason and will be on the 3rd and 4th of June which is a Monday and Tuesday but a Bank Holiday over here curtesy of Madg's Jubilee and not being too big into royalty what better way to celebrate it than roading road the track with an impressive field of 33 snarling V8'S. There are currentl 9 Camaro's & Mustangs, 5 Aston Martins and a host of other V8 machinery including a Cobra Daytona entered, this is gonna be some spectacle! As I cannot add a photo on this site here is a link to Facebook page with all the info you need including the entry list. If you are in the UK this is one not to miss at this fabulous viewing iconic circuit.

Well 3rd gen all loaded up on the 6 wheeler trailer and hooked up to the 94 Dayvan and we are good to go for the big un, wish me luck I will post some footage after the races, looks like it could be a wet un which may not be too bad for me as some of the big power boys may struggle more and I found the IROC-Z on 888's not too bad in the wet and a lot better than the earlier gen car.

Thanks Guys. It went really well the car performed good with a couple of minor gremlins in the 2nd 40 minute race. In the first 20 minute sprint I qualified quite high up the grid I think it was 11th out of 30 cars and considering there was some $200,000 buck machinery out there was pretty gratifing also a lot of those in front were in the highly modified class. The 3rd gen certainly shocked a few of the old 1st gen stalwarts and Mustang boys who think that GM stopped making the Camaro at the end of 69, they were taken aback with its pace on the twisty circuit and I had a least a couple of guys express an interest in building a similar model something they would never previously have done as its all 1st Gen or nothing over here. I let a big bucks 1st Gen get past when I made a mistake and also a lightweight Falcon when I missed a gear so both my mistakes then a car went off into the hairpin which is at the end of a steep hill and thats my best overtaking spot as I power up the hill and go in tight at the bend in classic short oval style where I cut my racing teeth but they hung the yellows out until the end of the race so it messed me up a bit. Still we finished thats the main thing.

In race two the 40 minute mini enduro I opted to do on my own as my co-driver Cliff Ryan is currently Stateside racing his Mustang at the Glen and Lime Rock. I knew the fuel tank wasnt big enough so took an extented compusory pit stop of about 2 minutes but it wasnt enough and I ran out of fuel with about 1 minute and half to go. However I was classified and not last either as I had done a percentage of the winners laps so was highly delighted. I had backed right off to conserve fuel and was short shifting as you will see in the video also another problem the clutch pedal required a pump every time I changed gear (hence the missed gear in race one) so as i was worried it may give up the ghost I did most of the race with just one gearchange per lap.

The series and the meeting was very well received and the turnout of cars was amazing and battles up and down the field. The guy from one of the big players in the market over here that sponsors the series (name escapes me for the moment) commented it was one of the best most exciting races he had ever witnesssed and not one car got damaged as far as I could see (the rear end on the Aston was damaged in a previous race). I will post videos later.
