Order being accepted either tonight or tomorrow! My brother already has his WRX donor car and will probably start taking it apart pretty soon.
I still can't believe what they have designed for only $10,000 for the kit, plus whatever you can get a kit for, most likely going to be $15K finished. 265 hp stock, easily upgraded to over 300 hp, mid engine, 1800 lbs. It's going to be a killer on the track. Who's building on? I was going to until I decided to build a CMC car. I'm looking forward to helping my brother with his next year when he gets his kit. I like it, but I don't care for the extra body lines in the front bumper, looks a bit ricer-ish to me. They may aid in stiffness though which would be important with 6-8" of splitter tacked on in front of it thought.
I'd like to think its heavy for what it is, but I've seen quite a few completed locosts that are over 1500lbs by the time someone puts in creature comforts, DOT glass, builds a 4-4-2 oversized frame, and puts a cast iron block DOHC motor in one. I have no clue on the weight of subby components though, and I see a turbo opposing 4 weighing a lot more than an NA inline 4. The criticism on only being able to use the 5-speed seems like it may not be an issue to me if it's only being used in FWD and not AWD, but I'm far from an expert. I read through a bit of the thread on C-C the other day, looking at the prototype photos it looks okay with some concerns. The strut to a-arm adapter looks like an abortion to me, but I haven't seen a very good photo of it either. Doesn't help that I'm not a fan of the fourth gen style tall spindle SLA setup when you can run a lot lower scrub and SAI inside of the high offset wheels that are becoming the norm. Front roll center looks high to me, but ride height could be way off. http://www.emotorsports.org/images/GRM/DSC_0065.JPG The C4 5-link style of rear suspension can cause a lot of toe-change too. Usually the toe-rod needs to be much longer than the other links in that style of 5-link which doesn't look to be the case. Looks like the three lower links are all in plane which I think may cause bind too. http://www.emotorsports.org/images/GRM/DSC_0088.JPG http://www.emotorsports.org/images/GRM/DSC_0086.JPG Being the prototype I'm sure they'll be changing stuff prior to shipping kits.
