Which platform do you use?

Experiences on both?

I have used a Mac platform to edit video and multi-media for almost 10 years.

Thank God Almighty that Premiere Pro was finally released.

CYA Mr. Jobs ... your platform freaking sux.

The OS is buggy and unstable and heaven help you if you have a motherboard issue ...

Not an MS fan, but I use Windows for several reasons.

All RVSI products are developed on the Windows platform (my employer).

One of my many hobbies is video games, only not of the console variety. Online first person shooters, strategy games, and various simulation games, none of which are very well represented on anything but the Windows platform. Yes, consoles do have a few good offerings, and Macs do get a few good offerings as well, but combined they don't compare to what's available on Windows.

I've just never liked the Mac interface. Can't attest to OS X cause I haven't used a Mac in several years, but I like the flexibility of the Windows environment. Not saying it's MORE flexible. Just saying I like it. Stability? Viruses? Security? None of these have been an issue for me at all since Win98, but then I know my way around the OS, and I've learned to avoid all the pitfalls (and yes, I admit there are plenty of pitfalls, though less with each new offering from MS).

My web browsing has always been... cautious. I have anti-virus, ad-blocking, firewall, and network activity monitors. My firewall has my system bolted down tight, I have to approve virtually every network activity. To many people this is probably an inconvenience. To me, it's simply the way I want it. I want to know everything that goes on, under the scenes, behind the scenes, around the scenes, in front of the scenes, and inside the scenes.

Very similar to wanting to know and be in control of everything with my car. Traction control? Anti-lock brakes? Driver assist of any type, don't need 'em. Never have, never will.

Don't want anything holding my hand with my car, don't want anything holding my hand with my computer, and I definitely hate big brother trying to hold my hand with my life. Sorry, what was this thread about again? Oh, computers. I run Windows XP.
