Just a thought since everyone seems to be really interested in putting their car on a diet maybe we should add a section for weight reduction

Yeah, I got 14.5 for the passenger airbag and bracket.
Another 11lbs for the plastic stuff on the firewall and floorboard. I did the box cutter approach too, but I collected it all up and weighed it when I was done. That was everything I could reach with the dash in place. There might be another 5 lbs in the center section up high I couldn't get to. If I left the bottom panels out (the ones that keep you from seeing the wires and stuff under the dash) it would be a few more lbs. 50 still sounds like a whole lot though, even if you include the airbag. (unless you are counting the radio, all hvac controls, all ductwork, etc.) |
