Ok, most of our members here know that I build the trackbrackets C5 conversion brackets for 4th gen F-bodies. This kit was originally the Bob Bishop conversion kit, but I bought the rights from Bob (who is no longer affiliated with this product) and am building them to his standards at the same shop that perfected this manufacturing process. I would like to do a batch of either 11 or 22 sets. I'll make some phone calls to get a firm price on this batch (I have to verify the cost of aluminum). We sold the last batch for $279 on the GP. I'll post a firm price as soon as I get it. But it should be close to the last batch.
If you're interested, please post in this thread. Once we get enough buyers lined up, I'll start collecting money and hope to deliver them within 6 weeks (depending on my shop schedule) from that time. Thanks! Kevin The last batch was priced like this: If we sell 11 sets = $279 per set (Plus shipping) If we sell 22 sets = $269 per set (Plus shipping) I get a slight discount for a larger order and I'll pass the savings along. I'll call and get an update to verify the prices and post when it's final. I'm sure it will be close. Paid: Robz71lm7 CCCBock derek kennedy BLK01SS Brian Buell Dexter |

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but is there a performance or quality advantage to your brackets over the umi brackets? I was on there site and noticed that they made c5 brackets as well but for 40 ish cheaper. But i figured that if your going to all the trouble of getting these made ther must be a difference. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) This isn't really the time or the place, but you seem to realize that. There was a discussion a while back, a heated one, about these brackets vs the UMI ones. These brackets, as the name implies, are "track" proven. I'd go so far as to call them an engineered design-since I know actual degreed professionals had a part in these brackets. They have also been track tested as well. Designing highly stressed parts out of aluminum is a lot more tricky than most are aware. 1) Engineered -quality fasteners held to anal tolerances (they are what holds your brakes and wheel hubs on) -The right aluminum for the job 6061-T6-corrosion resistance and long fatigue life at high temperatures with a hard anodize coating -the actual bracket itself is built around the material to minimize stress concentrations and maximize fatigue life while being light 2) Track proven -no pad taper when pushed to the limits (many steel brackets, let alone aluminum brackets, flex too much causing uneven pad wear) -they actually were tested before being sold to you! 3) Lab tested for failure Some of this stuff may not be as important to one that wants blingy brakes for the street and runs low-dusting, ceramic pads to keep their Zaino clean. |

I say that in the spirit of disclosure only, not to imply that I disagree with anything he said (I bought the TrackBrackets). I'm a big believer in making fully informed decisions, with no sacred cows and nothing taken on faith. For more reading on the topic .... I'd suggest reading the whole thing and drawing your own conclusions. This post has been edited by sgarnett: Jul 30 2006, 02:37 PM |

In other words, some of Rob's statements are disputed. Of course. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I did not mean to upset anyone or misrepresent my opinon as fact, but rather explain why many of us are willing to run these brackets versus others that are readily available. There are quite a few knock-offs out there and some of them are downright scary. One person was selling some made out of 304 stainless that had been swiss cheesed for lightening. I was honestly skeptical of these brackets when they were made under Bob-Kevin may remember me being critical when I was up at his house. But the hype is warranted IMO for anyone looking for C5 brakes. IIRC another positive of Trackbrackets is that they don't require irreversible modifications to the '98+ spindle (somewhat sure) and are unique to their respective side (sure on this part). Is this correct Kevin? |

Is this correct Kevin? You still have to cut them. Yes, there is a right and left side, so there is only one balljoint notch per bracket and each side is slightly compensated for brake pad taper, and each side is also "directional", based on the direction of the load on that bracket. |
