QUOTE The all-new Camaro will begin with early production versions at the end of 2008 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. “The new Camaro will be almost identical to the concept, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the 1969 model, considered by many to be the best design of the car’s first generation,” said Ed Welburn, GM's global vice president of design, who owns a 1969 Camaro SS. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe will feature an independent rear suspension, and will be offered in a variety of models with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions and V-6 and V-8 engines. I hope it doesn't weigh 4K lbs and come with skinny tires. It sure is ugly as a dog though IMO. I don't think retro shows any creativity at all. I want a new looking car. |

Oh please, dear In-Charge-Of-Production guy, please make it light and able to handle large tires. Please make a Z28 that will perform well, and please, oh PLEASE, make a 1LE version that will be a stripper and weigh 3200 pounds with manual seats/locks/windows, big brakes and sway bars, stiffer springs and adjustable shocks, with a 6 speed.

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) Less than 3600 will be a triumph of engineering IMHO. They still gonna build it in Oz? Doubt it. The exchange rate between US and AUS has been going the wrong direction the last few years (well between US and everyone, but that's beside the point). That's one reason they couldn't get the GTO price point where they wanted it and ultimately probably why the car wasn't a sales smash. I hear that they will make a chassis variant in AUS, but the ones sold here will not be made there. |

Less than 3600 will be a triumph of engineering IMHO. It's not so much the engineers as it is everyone else at GM tying their hands behind their backs. Andy,. I wouldn't buy one new either. I'll look for one two years old inj good shape hopefully manufactured after GM works out the first year's bugs. |
