As the topic/description says, I'm getting ready to put new tires on my 1998 Dakota Sport (2wd). The truck sees significant use 12 months a year (it has 206k on it so far), so I want something that will last, give a reasonable ride, and not cost more than the truck's current market value. Have tried Yoko Avids, Kumho equivalent (can't recall model), and the pathetic factory rubber. Anyone know of a durable alternative to those listed?

Another vote for the LTX M/S. I work in a tire store, and we have the fewer problems with Michelins than any other brand. They are a little pricey, but well worth the extra cash IMO. They ride very well, balance out very nicely, and just oooooze quality. The BFG All Terrain is a tough, tough tire, but they aren't the smoothest riding tire. Several times we have installed a set of new All Terrains on a truck, only to have to order another tire because one of the four we had in stock won't balance with a resonable amount of weight (>4 oz on one side). what tire store do you work for? |
