I only live an hour from Daytona but it is very rare that a group will actually rent it because it is so expensive. The PBOC rented it out and I'm Solo qualified with them so I was good to go. They didn't allow any novice drivers. I have always wanted to drive Daytone and it didn't disappoint. The high banking is a hoot and I have a whole new respect for the NASCAR boys that can go 3 wide at the speeds they are running.
It rained most of the day on Sunday and during my first session I went out in the dry but ran into a torential down pour coming down the back straight. I'm running V710's so no tread and heavy rain isn't good. I took NASCAR 3&4 at a greatly reduced speed on my way to pit in and discovered that all of the rain running off the roof goes directly into the drivers door panel in that situation.
