Well got the motormounts installed . That was a royal pain in the AZZ . Had to drop the oil filter and starter . Guess where the oil filter is? Directly above the starter . Yep you guessed it dumps right on the starter . In order to pull the starter you have to pull the filter . So there is no winning. So the mounts are in , oil filter on , and starter back in. Went to drain the pan and you guessed , the oil pan drain threads are stripped out. Thank goodness for a over size self tapping oil pan plugged.
Got it all together and warmed up and took it fro a road test . There is quite some turbo lag until the boost comes on and then hold on . It was to the point of spinning all four tires on the wet pavement . Did find a weak half shaft that I must replace and I seen the engine temp was rising when in boost . Gotta check out what is up with that. This car is going to be fun |

Gotta check out what is up with that. This car is going to be fun Gotta love all that. I guess you are supposed to pull the oil filler cap off and turn the car upside down to drain for oil changes? Do you have room to take a plastic milk jug with the bottom cut out and put it up there to redirect the oil when you pull the filter? The heating may be due to a mildly-plugged radiator. With age, they don't carry the heat away as well, and the more you drive, the warmer they get. The problem is exacerbated with a turbo. Older turbos did have a lot of lag. Get an update with modern impellers and turbine wheels, and it should be killer! |

I will have to try the plastic container trick. That may work here .
Over heating I think was being caused by a missing thermostat. replaced it and the all was working great until a coolant line going to the oil cooler ruptured. So it looks like all lines will need replacing. |
