To Open Track!

She ran NASA HPDE 1/2 today and wants to continue. I see another car in our future! Reconfirmation that I chose the right woman.

She pulled off 1:52 at Willow Springs. Not bad for rookie. Brent, if you read this... yes, I confirmed hotlap counter with video! Time stands. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

That's my GF! Told her I had to go change the wheels/tires on the car yesterday and she says "can I help?". It was like this sudden beam of light shun down on her as she said it too actually (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) She even cleaned the inside facing of my street wheels!!! But then I had to rotate all 4 of her tires too since she enjoyed doing it so much (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

My wife codrives in autocross, but refuses to take the wheel at an open track event. She's not always there looking to help me out, but she never detracts or complains about my hobby/money pit, and that's about all I could ask for.

Possibly... she was an adopted child.

I have it pretty good but this is just phase one. Phase two invovles getting her excited to start spending her paycheqes on my car too (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I still think SSpeedRacer has it best tho. My gf would drive around on a lapping day but would be far from able or motivated to push a car to its limits.

i'm almost there....my gf has a 94 formula, but she's more interested in the drag strip for that car. (silly people who don't want to turn...)

but actually, the formula is in her dad's garage getting some r&r...and her daily driver is a mazdaspeed protege. that car has gotten her more interested in turning (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

so now she's shown some interest in autox'ing that car....so, who knows.....

overall, i'm far more into this whole thing than she is, but she's still a car enthusiast....

My wife has autocrossed with me a few times, and when we get serious into it, is also planning to run. I was really surprised how hard she pushed the car the first time out. We're planning on doing the evolution schools too. I'll probably due phase 1, then let her do phase one the next time it comes around. I figure it would be too hard (if not impossible) to have 2 people running one car during the school.

She won't drag race though, that's ok though, cause you can get into trouble pretty quick there if you don't know what you're doing and how to react (miss shift, fishtail, etc.) Autocrossing, about the worst you'll do is hit a cone or do a little offroading.

Right now she's not real keen on me doing a road course, but that won't stop me (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I don't know if I'll ever get her to get into the drivers seat though.

She also tolerates my mods to the car and truck. I somehow have convinced her that she wants a 70 Chevelle SS. I mean I can't complain, and who am I to say "NO" to her when that's what she wants. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have explained to her that the Chevelle would be after my 68 Camaro.

Oh, BTW, she does have a sister (IMG:http://www.ksfba.org/forums/images/smiles/naughty.gif)

My wife loves the autocoss and drag racing. She has become real car person ever since she got the TA. She told me she never really understood why people got so into cars, but now that she has a cool car she understands. A couple weeks ago, while watching SPEED channel with me, she started asking questions about how engines work. I started to explain, but the blank look on her face told me she wasn't getting it. So, I got some books out with pictures. She is very interested in helping me restore a muscle car. Who am I to say no? She actually gets mad at me when I change her race tires for her. But I think most of that is that she likes using the electric impact gun. I am very fortunate to have such a wife.

Nice to hear about the ladies gettin' the bug! I jump for joy when they come to the SCCA Street School at Thunderhill I teach. Usually they are real timid to start with - by the end of the day they are actually using their brakes and goin' WOT! Most of them are great students as they seek lots of input, listen well
and don't make aggressive mistakes. I see many of them coming back to the school, which is proof they are diggin' it! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) That is where I started out too, in this same street school.

I tried to get my wife interested. From the way she drives on the street, it seemed like a good fit. She finally explained that while she enjoys "getting air" over railroad tracks and hills she doesn't like the sensation of sliding sideways (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Oh well, she did tell me once that while she knows I spend a lot on modifying the car, she thought race gas was going too far (found the brochure). Well, OK, mods good, race gas bad, those are guidelines I can live with (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My 6 month old daughter likes watching cars go by, and seemed to enjoy watching a few minutes of autocross - so there's hope (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A$$holes . . . you're all a$$holes. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

My wife absolutely hates that I race. She doesn't understand why my car has to be so loud - why it has to be so stiff - why it has to make those sounds (creaks, groans, etc.). Every month, we go through about a 2 day dance of "Will she 'let' me race this month". She just took her first ride last week in 2 years of me doing this. And it wasn't even with me - it was with a friend in a S2000!! (Actually, that was probably smart. She's seen how on the edge I drive. But, I beat him by over a half second!) she doesn't understand why I have to spend $70 on oil, then change it myself, when she gets hers done for her for about $20.

But, I married her before I got really into this. And, that's about the only thing that I would change about us. At the end of the day, I'd rather us disagree on this, than on something that REALLY mattered.

Funny part is, she used to drive a little 4-cyl Laser when we were dating. When I'd follow her, she'd pull out and floor it. She took corners faster than I did. I keep trying to tell her that she would actually make a pretty good driver, if she tried. But, she just won't get into it. Oh well!
