F Body w/ C5R transplant and appropriate suspension + brake mods

or

ZO6, stock

LG MotorSport could put a new engine in your Fbody for about $24k. Fast and exclusive. One of a kind on your block. Untouchable on the straights. Even if the competion had a supercharged LS6.

ZO6 would still out handle you on the course. But hell, being pressed into the seat in reaction to your right foot spasms would be worth it ? Right?

Your opinions please. Daydreamers only.

You're on an AX/RR forum, I wouldn't think there would be any doubts. You've gotta be able to turn! So my vote is for the Z06, even though a $24K motor (yikes, I thought LPE was expensive!) would probably be a dream. On the drag strip.

I'm kinda a fan of AI (although this setup would probably qualify for AIX). Thought 525 RWHP might prove attractive to some. Oh yes, the torque of a 427ci motor to boot.

I'd make 525 RWHP with a strongly built 383 at 8.5:1 CR and with a little boost. As a matter of fact, that's my plan for my AIX engine, as the budget allows.
Well, it will start in the mid 400 range but the bottom end will handle 600 RWHP. From 450 to 600 RWHP is only some boost and fuel system work away AND it would be thousands less in cost than the $24K you're budgeting.

Yeah, I would also go the route of getting C5R power a cheaper way OR buying the Z06 and gradually making THAT faster than your pocketbook says is smart as time allows.

Who will know...or care... if you blow by someone with a reasonably priced motor vs. a C5R?? They would probably be more impressed if you did it your own way....they'd EXPECT to get torched by the C5R motor...and just roll their eyes and say "there's a guy with more money than sense."

Get an older Z06...and find a way to put a motor that was DESIGNED for it in there and you'ld be on to something!

Now Randy that statement cracked me up. Wouldn't the average Joe say that about any road racer? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

That SOB better be gold plated!

I would imagine that is C5R components, though. That's $12K in bare block/heads alone!

You can build it yourself for 525hp for a lot less than $25K. At that price you're paying Lou for a lot of labor and install time you could do yourself and/or with friends. I agree with others' statements on this.

Theres always Lingenfelter's Twin Turbo's (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)
I work for a Corvette shop so I get the pleasure of being around all the special option vette's on a daily basis. It's rough but somebody has to do it .

IMO I'm a sucker for the ZR-1's, You sit in one and it feels like time was taken to make it special. Just hate working on them ( (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) starters).

I would take the C5R in a ss. I really do not care for the looks of the vetts. I think the camaro is a much better looking car. It would look even better with 100 more hp. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
