One of the drivers that was going to the American Irony race at Gingerman raceway with us has been forced to withdraw. As a result.....
We have confirmed one open spot for Gingerman. 17-18 April 2010 American Irony (Detroit MI) Gingerman Raceway, South Haven MI Practice April 16th http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/detroitirony10/ We would like to do it pretty close to an arrive and drive, you will likely have to do refueling. This is what you get; http://jalopnik.com/5374020/for-the-fir%20…%20an-victory Past performance does not guarantee future results. Cost is $500 and covers gas, soggy cold cuts, greasy grilled food, warm beverages. +$250 entry fee ($750 total) The wheel to wheel time is about 15 hours so expect about 3 hours of seat time with 5 drivers. There is going to be two original drivers and three renters. I will be the last driver out to make sure everyone else gets more seat time. Plus any practice time on Friday (required, unless you have a bunch of experience there). jwashburn78@hotmail.com This is the email address of our team captain for this race. You can also contact me or post any questions you have here. |

To anyone contemplating doing this, just do it! You'll be glad you did. It's great fun, even if you don't have the hottest F-body out there. You'll also need a SFI-approved nomex driving suit, full-faced helmet, gloves shoes and/or nomex underwear, depending on the suit you have. If you already compete in AI, or CMC, you may be covered there.
I've done two events already, and am ready for the next event in October. Paul Costas on this list is also a regular cometitor. It's great fun to go thrash on some POS you really don't care much about. We got to see the underside of three cars at the last event here in Houston last weekend. |

It's not clear in my first post but the car in question is the car that won the 24 hours of lemons Lamest Day race last october. So this is a proven car not some piece of crap that is likely to blow up during the opening yellow flag laps.

So this is a proven car not some piece of crap that is likely to blow up during the opening yellow flag laps. Ha. We won the first time out and our car has blown up/had mechanical issues in both races since (and it even had a mildly freshened engine transplanted into it for the last event). With Lemons, nothing is really that predictable. |

We were "told" when we bought the car that the engine had less than 50k on it but the speedo doesn't work and no way to verify so who knows. |

Ours was bought from a neighbor. It had a 10k old remanufactured engine in it. It ran like a clock for the first lap around the clock. It's run more like a stop watch ever since... (mostly stopped).

the 150K mile motor in the SR71, now e30ata hasn't been rebuilt...I'm surprised it hasn't died yet with all the 6500+ shifting. I guess if it makes so little power it can't hurt itself, its all good!! The team placed 4th at Southern Comfort this year...I was sadly not able to go (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Just got home from the race. It' a nice track and the weather was pretty decent. We finished 7th out of 51. Started with 10 BS laps had some black flags and to round out a proper lemons weekend we had some charging problems during the last 3 hours of the race causing extra pit stops. Great weekend.
