In southern Indiana gas is almost always cheaper than diesel. I wish I knew why.

And the prices act very different. Diesel rarely changes prices. Gas changes ever other day. Why are the two so very different? Arent' they both made from light sweet crude?

The excuse _was_ that diesels have become so popular that their use is outstripping supply. That's an excuse that's a couple of years old, now, so all I can put it up to is speculation on the spot market. One would think they've gotten the sulfur extraction down to a science now, and the parts to do so mostly depreciated.

It used to be pretty cheap, then in 2003, or so, shot up more expensive than premium gasoline, and mostly stayed there.

One of the only good things about living close to Chicago, diesel is usually cheaper then gas, save for a few weeks when they let it fall before rocketing it back up again...
