I pulled a stuck 18 wheeler out with my truck. God I wish I had someone around to take a video.
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/Steve91T/Camaro/AECC9681-FC11-4DCD-89D7-0EF6D1CBBFAB.jpg) All 8 wheels of the truck were stuck in relatively deep ruts in the ice. I used 4 wheel low and granny gear. I didn't even touch the gas, just let the clutch out. The torque at idle of the Powerstroke and the gearing allowed me to pull him out at idle. Freaking cool. No tires slipped even on the wet pavement. I don't know if he was loaded or empty, but I felt the stretch in the strap, so it definitely had some weight to it. As I snapped the picture, some guy watching said "that was awesome. An F250 pulling an 18 wheeler". Yep, I agree. I love my truck! |

Sweet!! That's kind of like using our 95 Caprice to drag out 2500HD and trailer out of the muck here! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)
That's also a bit like the guy who delivered the building to our slab when we had the shop built. He brought a fully-loaded tractor/sleeper/flatbed onto our property. It had been raining a lot since the slab was poured (we got rain a day-and-a-half after the slab was poured), so things were pretty soupy then. He just drove in as far as he could go. When the truck quit moving, the trucks wheels were to the bottom of the rims. I showed some concern, but he assured me that the truck would be much lighter with the building off of it, and they'd use the 4X4 cherry picker that was on site to build to pull it out. Sure enough, when the time came the picker crawled the truck back out of the mud hole and he was on his way with very little delay. Like he planned it!! |
