Ok. I have been speaking with Bob Bishop about his F-body front brake conversion kits. There has been demand and more than a few requests to purchase them. So, by popular demand, FRRAX is working with Bob to build one last batch of these brackets.
For anyone who does not know, Bob's brackets are designed to allow you to use the 13" rotors and the upgraded calipers and Pad Abutment Brackets (PAB's) from the C5 Corvette on your 4th generation Camaro or Firebird. The advantages of this system are that you use all of the C5 parts, which have been upgraded for the Corvette application. This allows you to use the Corvette calipers which are stronger that the F-body calipers and more resistant to spreading. The Corvette brakes make use of directionally vented 13" rotors. This allows the rotors to cool more efficiently and increases braking repeatability and performance. This kit is not a hybrid mix of the Corvette rotors and the F-body calipers and brackets like some of the others that are available. This kit is a complete Corvette brake swap and uses Corvette brake pads (which, in many cases, seem to be less expensive for racing applications). You will need to source Corvette PAB's, Calipers, pads and rotors. The kit includes the brackets, which are made of 6061-T6511 aluminum which is clear anodized after machiening, and mounting hardware for the bracket. Generally, this kit will require a 17" or larger rim (there may be a very few aftermarket 16" rims that could fit with this kit, but not very many, so it will be pretty much 17" and up). We have 19 sets available for sale. With our current schedule, I should have the brackets available to ship sometime around the last week of November. Also, due to quality control issues, the last few people to sign up may receive a refund instead of brackets if there are any that fail the quality control process. We can only get a limited amount of brackets out of our aluminum stock and there is no room for extras if one is damaged or out of tolerance and has to be rejected. I just wanted to mention that to avoid any potential surprises. If you have any questions, please contact me at trackbirdengineering@columbus.rr.com or start a second thread (I'm trying to limit this thread to the names for the GP to make it easy to keep track of everyone and the order they signed up in). The cost on the brackets will be $279 per set and this includes shipping. Please do not contact Bob directly with questions, forward all inquiries to me with regard to the GP and the brackets. Payment will be sent to me and I will handle shipping the products when they arrive. You can send cashiers checks or money orders by mail (PM me for the address) or I accept Paypal (please add 3% to cover paypal's fees, for a total of $287.37). Paypal is to trackbird@columbus.rr.com (Please mark Bob's brakes, and your screen name, in the subject line, thanks!). I would like to have all the money collected by November, 1st (if a few join late, we'll work with that). Thanks! Kevin (trackbird) FRRAX - Owner/Admin The brackets look like this: (IMG:http://home.columbus.rr.com/trackbirdz28/cid_00fc01c4b71460c88740419ac518computer.jpg) (IMG:http://home.columbus.rr.com/trackbirdz28/cid_011601c4b714b7dd9e80419ac518computer.jpg) (IMG:http://home.columbus.rr.com/trackbirdz28/cid_010701c4b714884b9460419ac518computer.jpg) (IMG:http://home.columbus.rr.com/trackbirdz28/cid_012e01c4b714f9821fa0419ac518computer.jpg) (IMG:http://home.columbus.rr.com/trackbirdz28/cid_012101c4b714d9d8a7a0419ac518computer.jpg) I'll update this list as I recieve payments. QUOTE (396 Hawk @ Oct 27 2004, 04:59 PM) I posted info on a few sites but haven't really gotten much interest. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) Give them time. This seems to be getting around. People are slowly finding their way in here. So, there is still hope. |

You're on the list for the second batch (if we get enough people to do another batch).
Thanks! |

QUOTE (brostalss @ Nov 9 2004, 12:54 AM) any updates? are they being made yet? thanks. Yes. The first batch is nearly done and I have to contact Bob for a shipping date, but I suspect it will be within a week. So, with any luck, you should see them around the first of December (give or take a little). Thanks! |

QUOTE (kgkern01 @ Nov 8 2004, 11:46 PM) When would the money need to be in on the second set? I don't get my incentive check from work until the 30th, or I would be in on this for sure. Once we get enough to make it a "go", it would be due within roughly a week (give or take a little bit). |

Maybe I can find someone to sell me a set after the GP is over (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

If you needed a little more time, I can try to work with you. You can always send me a PM. |

Bill... You're #9 (plus any that I buy). If we can sell 20, I'll buy the last two myself to help this get rolling. That's 11 sold. |

That should be #12.
I may move the second batch to a new thread to make it easier to sort out. |

QUOTE (Elkyracer @ Nov 11 2004, 12:32 AM) I could go in for a set in about 3 weeks if the GP will be around then? Kyle I'm not sure what the cutoff date will be for doing/not doing the last batch. But, please reply in this thread: http://frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=2804 And we'll add you to the list. Thanks! Kevin |
