Hi,

As you know, I'm undecided between the Recaro SRD and the Corbeau TRS.
I sat in the Recaro SRD in a local shop, and really liked the support.
Looking @ the #s, they are very similar to the Corbeau TRS, which Sam is having a GP.

The thing is that I live in Canada, customs and tx are a killer.
Going with the GP, and the seats trimmed on the butt area, so that I don't sit too high, will cost me $550/seat... $1100 for both seats.
I figure 100$ in shipping... so $1200.

Now the fun part is that it translates to ~$1450 CAN$
Duties will charge me a good $100 CAN$ and then a 15.025% tax awaits me on everything (even shipping and duties)
$1550 + tax = $1780... so I figure $1800 CAN$ to my door for both seats (Corbeau TRS)

Now, the shop that has the Recaro SRD, is trying to convince me to purchase them... I really love the way I sit in them and it's a Recaro... the hick... is that they are red and non-leather... but the guy is selling them for 699$ CAN$, but will even give me a deal if I get both.
So figure $1400 for both.
I have some contacts on leather uphoster, but have no clue how much it will cost... will give them a call on monday to check it out... for sure they can match the leater color, and it'll be a Recaro that I know I love for sure...
Now let's say it costs $300 /seat for upholster... so each seat will cost $1000 CAN$, so 2000$ + tax = 2300$, but I would have Recaro's with perfect leather matching.
I'm even thinking of having the SS logo added on the seats (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What would you guys do ????

by the way... does anyone have pics of Recaro SRD in their cars ????
I know some of you have them.

I contacted Corbeau so that I could find a close Corbeau shop where I could sit in them... but the closest one is 6hr drive (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
I know they sell them in lots of places in the Montreal area, but noone stocks them. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)
I'd like to know what the Corbeau feel like when seated in them, and support Sam (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)
but I don't want to face unpleasant surprises either...
I hate this... I wanna try some Corbeau TRS to give it a chance. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif)

I had the Recaro's until I recently sold them both for $500 to a guy in the BMW club that I run with. If you want to see some other pictures....there are a few on my website which is in my signature below.

If you are interested in just 1 SRD seat, I would sell for $300. Great shape, barely used, less than 1 year old, probably 6 butts have ridden in it, with passenger bracket, all black fabric with white letters at the top. I might be able to get it into the Albany NY area if you are interested....

I was checking locally for upholstery companies that can do leathering the seats... but they charge roughly 1000$CAN per seat for making it leather (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
So even @ 300$US for the seat... that's 360$CAN + 1000$CAN = 1360$
Considering I can get brand new recaro's leather for less than that amount... since I have a local Solo2 friend that works for Recaro Canadian distributor.
So I don't see this solution as being a feasible one.
If I wanted clothed seats, yes, I would be jumping on it... but it's not the case.

I found out today that Recaro's SRDs were replaced by the Speed, which are quite different from the Sport.
The Speed have much more support and are considered racing, while Sports are considered as Touring.

Anyways, I can get a special order directly from Recaro for a leather Speed and it would be cheaper than getting it custom made... plus, Recaro says they can match the leather color from the ebony Camaro leather. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Here is a pic of the Speed (which used to be called SRD):

You can really tell that the Sport has way less support.
