My car's eventual fate is probably going to be a CP car. Which will lead to some transmission swapping...

I'd like to know if there were any aluminum cased 3sp manual trannies mounted behind V8 powered passenger cars.

Even better yet, for the really knowledgeable oldschool guys...What of those 3sp trannies will interchange gear shafts?

I think an aluminum cased 3sp w/ a 3.25 1st gear and 2.50 second gear would fit the bill perfectly. Add a 5.5" clutch and have a superlight low ratating mass transmission setup.

I am not sure if there were any aluminum 3 speeds made by GM. _Maybe_ for the old 6-cyllinder Vettes, but not much else. I have had discussions with others about using a 5-speed case and only throwing about 3 forward gears in it, but it hasn't gone much further than that.

Why not forget all this standard foolishness and just get a well-built TH350 with a dirt track converter and be done with it?
