I'd like to announce that HP will be joining us as a site sponsor here at frrax. We're all using computers to access this site and we all buy computers for tuning cars, using the internet, etc. Why not check out HP?

Has frrax hit the bigtime in motorsports, up there with F1 as an advertising venue, or do you have some connections? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

We get into better fights and they figured this would get them more exposure. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

So how does this work for us? Is it the same as Jeg's and Northern, link to them and FRRAX gets a credit, and do we get a discount?

How'd you land them as a sponsor? -John They like motorsports, and an internet forum is full of people who use computers. I guess it made sense..... They run sales and specials on their website and I should start getting some in e-mail form, I'll post them when I receive them. If you buy from them, please use the link, that's how they track our referrals. Thanks Guys! |

Small suggestion, which you are more than welcome to ignore (of course): with the addition of HP in the ad banner at the top of the page, the width of the banner sometimes causes the web page to be wider than 768 across, so a user that has their desktop set at 1024X768 will have a vertical scroll bar and have to scroll to see all the content of a page in some circumstances. I think if you trim the white space in the HP ad it will solve the problem. You aren't many pixels over.
From reports I've run against a db of quite a few users, about 50% of computer users run 1024X768. Jason |

Thanks Jason. I started to trim it when I put it up, then I realized that my main machine was still in pieces and my laptop has nothing on it that I could do the job with. I'll have to send it to a friend, get it cut down, and swap it out. I kinda forgot about it after putting it up.

I love HP products and recommend them when I can. My less then a year old DV1000 laptop is excellent.

Ya, HP's products are top notch. I've used a lot of HP's professional products, and just got one of their cheap bubble jet printers and it is great. Unfortunately, the rebate bounced and my perception of their quality as a supplier dropped a rung. Even if the perp was the retailer or the salesman, being involved in a rebate scam just seems like a backwards way to increase revenue. I expect that crap from Verizon, but from HP it was a slap in the face.

My dad likes his HP computers and plotter, but I had issues with one of their printers. Two of them died, they replaced the first but not the second so I went with a Canon printer instead. But I did like some of the HP features over the Canon.

I had a bad computer that they couldn't fix over 1.5 years. I had about 4-5 in home services, numerous hardware parts, and had it drop shipped to a Texas repair facility three times. Every time it came back from them it was a worse-all while I needed it for school. Sometimes when it came back it would not even boot up or once it had the wrong OS installed. In summary it took about 4-5 video cards, a power supply, a motherboard, a cpu, and a couple of drives. They probably had me reformat it at least 15 times. After that they reluctantly agreed to give me a new computer due to my warranty-which they originally tried to lie and say it wasn't provided for. biggrin.gif I spent many (probably 10 more more) 5+ hour long phone calls with them.
Oh and did I mention this PC was a replacement for one that was DOA? It would not boot up out of the box. So yes I'm on my third HP PC. However this one has been perfect. And no I'm not computer ignorant. I don't visit bad sites and I keep my computer clean. About the only thing I use it for besides internet, email, and spreadsheets is autocad and solid edge. I really think I just had bad luck and am considering them for a laptop. But my desktop was so bad it would've been cheaper for me to buy a new one rather than have gone through the warranty hassle. |

Cool. I could use a good deal on a DL360 to replace my aging beige-box Solaris server at home, although, that machine with the overheat warning beeping at me is probably still quieter than a DL at full trot. :-)

Well knock me over with a feather - a couple weeks after I posted this, I got a letter saying my rebate was coming, apparently reversing their position on the product's eligibility. Got the check Sat. Thanks HP! |

We've been very happy with our HP laser printers over the years. And they make good digital cameras too.

Funny. As I'm reading this I get a call from the guy that is the other half of the performance testing team here at work. He's in training today, in a room that is next to one of our server rooms (we're making server rooms out of any space we can find at the moment). He asked if I could power down the 65 HP servers that makes our testbed, since he could hear them from a couple of offices away and it was annoying.
