New ECTA 1 mile drag record of 201.82mph!!!
The standing mile record for the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) was set by Winston Churchill at 201.82 mph through the mufflers and 22 gallons of gas on board. Previous record was mid 170's. Record was set May 20, 2006 in Maxton, NC. This was posted on another board a while ago (and I lost track of the thread and couldn't manage to locate it) and I fell in love with the car (though I already wanted a C4) and am really starting to think I need one of these. More info is here: http://forums.corner-carvers.com/showthread.php?t=29673

coworker is selling his 90 vette for sale. Excellent shape, mint. http://www.mfba.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1503 That's pretty..... But I'd have to get it into the US and make it legal, etc..... would be easy... you'd have to pay state tx and leave the car @ border for 2 days... no biggie. Several ppl have done it that i know of... the car has to be older than 6months and more than 6k miles. |

QUOTE And, standard L98 parts/SB Chevy parts cost almost nothing. Heads, cams, etc, it's all cheaper for the old stuff and they make good power (and I can tear them down in my sleep). Amen!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I was thinking that was the case, but I didn't sell them until '95 and I am getting rusty on my old Corvette information. I know they fixed the rear suspension geometry in 1988, but I'm rusty on the rest. What was wrong with the pre 88's ? A buddy of mine has asked me to be partners in a 1986 that we will use mainly for track days and some autoX. |

A buddy of mine has asked me to be partners in a 1986 that we will use mainly for track days and some autoX. The 84-87 Vettes seem to be the ugly stepchildren of the line - control arms and wheels offsets changed with the 88 model and stayed the same thru 96. I don't know how much of a difference the changes made handling wize, but the interchangeable with Fbod wheels may not fit. Details here: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/c4/susp_chart.html The L98/ZF 6 speed combo was avaliable from 89 to 91. The new interior was introduced in 90, replacing the 'Star Wars' dash. The updated body style from the ZR1 was added in 91. I think 92 got the smoothed out roll around corner markers. And an LT1, I'll pass. I want an old fashioned small block. I'm guessing I would buy a 91 only, if I ever buy one...and I just might one of these days. The later rounded corner rear bumper cover bolts right on to an earlier model and updates the look nicely. I've got 2 spare ZR1 widebody rears up in my storage room. The cars are pretty stout with a cage - having a real frame to weld to is quite a treat compared to unit bodies. My avatar is the first of several C4 cages I've built. That one is for sale, BTW.. |

Got to say, I love the C4 Vettes. Truth be told, I actually preferred my 92 over my 01 Z06.

yeah, i want to get a C4 for some HPDE's... wouldn't feel too bad if something happened (friend put down oil this week at a PCA event and a Porche spun into the wall) . If I wrecked my Z06 on Watkins that's 3 1/2 more years of car payments and no car... would suck.
