I was wondering if there was issues with choosing 17x11 tire wheel combination on a C5.
Just guessing there may be rubbing issues in the front. I have not come across a discussion on this issue to date. Just thinking of future projects. |

I've actually seen this topic come up on corvetteforum.com in the autox/RR forum. You might check there.

I have heard SCCA T1 guys talk about it on sccaforums.com, but they all seem to agree that the smaller front tire combo 275/front 315/rear works much better for lap times.....

I wouldn't do it. Both my Vettes (92 and 01 Z06) handled much better with wider rubber on the rear. On my 92 I went from 17x9.5 w/275s all around to 17x9.5 w/ 275 front and 17x11 w/ 315s rear. On the Z06, I used the stock wheels/tires for street, but had the best handling at the track with a 275 front, 315 rear setup just like I used on the 92. Both the C4s and C5s were designed to have offset widths, while the f-body was designed with a single width in mind.

Corvettes wheigh less than an F-body and have better weight distribution... so you're really asking the wrong crowd here..
but the '03 Ladies ASP champ competes here and she(Su Brude i think) runs wide tires on her Z06.... she's very fast.. she only competes against the ladies at nationals otherwise she wants to beat up on the boys and another very fast driver here(Jim Harris) was running a '99 FRC with 315's.. he was really fast... he ran SM2 at nationals last year.. i dunno what place he came in anyway.. we have an event this weekend and i'll get the real scoop for you... there is definately some usefull information at the SCCA Forums... they've had many debates about what size tires can be run up front and what is best.... actually, that T1 section is probably one of the more-active portions of that site-- lots of good reading in there just in case you don't know.. T1 is a 'stock'(very limited modifcations, mostly safety mods) racing class that is dominated by Corvettes... so those guys are the ones you want to listen to if you want to get faster on a road course |

Actually the 03 ASPL champ was Bea Regganie. She's normally an ESPL driver but has been driving vettes lately. She last won (before ASP) an FSL championship.
That car was Dan Popps and it's got (last I knew) 315/17's on the Back an 305/18's on the front. |

T1 allows for ZR1/GS style wheels with 17x9.5" front and 17x11" rear on C5 Corvettes. It does not allow for 17x11" all around. Check the autox/roadrace section of Corvetteforum (and Z06Vette.com), I've never heard of anyone running the same size front/rear on a C5.

"do the rules allow it"... SBWhite pointed it out to them where it allows it in the GRC it's also a lot of fun to read over there cause that Scotty White is a smart ass |

The last I'd heard on this was when we were discussing it on CorvetteForum a while back and the T1 guys were saying specifically 9.5" front and 11" rear. Oh well, it's been a while since I paid attention to it since I don't have the Z06 anymore. Like you pointed out though, I don't know of anyone that is actually running the same width all around on C5. |
